Nuclear

You make the first move
and I rise to meet you
The destruction we agree
is mutually assured

If this love is war
we're going nuclear

I refuse to sign the peace
treaty, to surrender my
lands to a man who's  history
rides nations in his eyes

You cannot coax me
out of my shell only
to crush me when I am
most vulnerable

I will not be an
innocent bystander
to your horrors

I will not allow you
to make my pain beautiful
It is not your canvas
to experiment on.

(You'll only throw
red at it anyway)

I'm tired of tiptoeing
around the subject
like it is a minefield

Eventually I will
bleed your intentions dry
bandage them with a kiss
and revel in their cries

I will tear apart the lies
deftly with nimble fingers
and your tongue will always
defy you, spitting fire
and carefully lodged bullets

Once your secrets flare
there will be no rescue party
to salvage what we had

Only our ashes shall remain
*embers of a past unspoken.

untrue
1.

it was morning, once, he remembers
it had to be
but he lost her somehow

2.

wind cold and sharp
breath of frost and fury
entering her void

3.

a cliff two steps back
dreams still ahead
flying away

4.

***** hands on the skin
then slithering inside
and the taste remains

5.

something like a storm in the eyes
drops salty and bitter
and light, everywhere, light

6.

a hunger for flesh in the wilds
for there is desire
but he's not here

7.

threads warping the lips
****** needles
needed silence, and right

8.

hands up, touching the sun
clouds under the feet, and a voice:
higher

9.

light through the slit and secrets
thorns all around it
and darkness

10.

hooked, gravely ill,
mania, dread and ache;
a heart

Don’t forget to get away every once in awhile,
To lose yourself in a book
Or in the woods behind your home
Ride your bike into the sunset,
Sit on your front steps and count the cars passing by,
Lay on your roof and gaze up at the night sky,
Drive along backroads with the windows rolled down
Listening to nothing but the sound of rushing wind

I hope you take the time to be alone,
To sort through the cluttered shelves of your heart

I hope you take the time to be silent,
To close your eyes and just listen

I hope you take the time to be still,
To quiet your mind and experience the beauty
Of simply Being

In a world that tells us we should always be
Connected, on the go, and doing something worth sharing,
I hope you know it’s okay to
Disconnect, slow down, and keep some memories
Between you and the moment you shared it with.

Her hair is natural
The way she swings her hips side to side kills me softly
Smile does the same
My mind says calmly approach her
My heart beats as if it had burst into flames.
She's fun loving
Personality is subject to the earths gravitational pull
Sense of humor is warm like a fine wool
She's firm
strong willed
steel hearted
I make my approach
My Air has fully departed
She gives me a sweetened stare
Those eyes
Those eyes
Deep brown
Cups of robust African coffee
I attempt to speak
The few words I spill meek
At this point I'm weak
Icebergs surround my feet
She sees me going weak
Spurts out please take a seat
Gives a name so sweet
I tell her mine gladly
That was one heck of meet and greet
She notice the time
Lets me know she has to go
Before she does
I receive a simple number
And a complicated kiss on the cheek

Sand

I am but a grain of sand
On an expanse of shore.
Insignificant
Infinitesimal
Inconsequential
Irrelevant

But if I were to leave
The whole shoreline would change.
Perhaps in no major way
No astounding way
No amazing way

But it would change
