The mellow light of dusk
Shines in through cracks
Of curtains and blinds
Faded by time and sun

Old wood creaks
As the house settles and shifts
Dust and particles stir
With every wisp of stale air

A music box plays
Next to a crooked lamp
Whose blackened light bulb
Had long since burnt out

Night draws near
Yet ever so slowly
As the music box continues
Its soft strange tune

And with its final chime
Will the sun then sink
Below the amaranth sky
And into the oblivion of night
Boy
Take this boy
Holes in his shoes
Holes in his clothes
Hand me down rags

Greed turned this boy to man

Take this man
Gold in his hands
Diamonds in his hair
Destruction in his soul

Death turned this man to ashes

Take these ashes
Fluid on a wind
Lost without all
Nothing that will be missed

Time turned these ashes to memory

Memory of a boy
Hope reflects upon his ***** face
corruption cleans the dirt
And leaves the monster
the wealth of your life
is in the love that you sow
and gently nurture
Senryu
Particular light
waving a billion
miles from billion
year ball of gas to
tickle my iris.

And I am shy to show
the ancient traveller
the flipside of men,
blast crater uprooting
the sacred tree of life.

What happened to the
marbled head,
so noble and *****,
the burst of creativity
from cave to modernity?

What happened to sun,
einsteined to power,
the sunny side up
scrambled to gross
confusion and the limitless
cruelty to birthing eve?

Mom
Please mom remember your girl
How she never cries
Now think of her with tear stained eyes
And galaxies,bruised on her thighs.

Think of her now
On the phone with your oldest
To whom she is the closest
Biting her hand,so her sister wouldn't notice.

She fits all of the parts
To popular from punk
To poem freak to none
To happy then one day gone.

When she tells you that it's nothing
Think of strawberry gum
How she likes mint the most
But fruit when she needs help
To absorb her stressed cramps.

Mommy did you notice
How she favored her long sleeves
How even in the evening she said she wasn't hungry
Usually you'd say
"She'd never lie to me!"

Your baby girl is growing up
But you'll soon forget her height
Funny how life takes away
Your might and leaves a trail to fight
I have never stuttered in pen
misspoken in ink
or choked in my writing
the way I do
whenever I speak
my fingertips always know
the right words to say
my tongue is still learning
