May 2014
sometimes the happiest times
are those spent with no one
time lost in thoughts
time beneath the sun

time resting in the sand with
my hair blown a mess
the light warms my skin
evaporating stress

the waves they crash
and the gulls they cry
but from me you'll hear
only a happy sigh

the worst moment comes
when i'm forced to leave
when the air grows cold
my heart starts to grieve

i hate to go
but i know i should
today's wonder has past
the sun has left for good

yet the cold cannot remove
what forever will stay
the engraved memory
of that happy day
