I sit on my front porch with my space heater
smoking a stogie and swatting a skeeter
watching the sky fade from light grey to black
and hoping the color won't ever change back

the newly shown stars taunt my heart with their wishes
never bringing back the love that it misses
I've discovered a planet while sitting out here
but I forgot where it was cuz I drank too much beer

the clouds coming in slowly cover the moon
and they dull out the light from the many stars strewn
I beg them to stay but they say their goodbyes
the sun comes back out and reflects in my eyes

how did I waste my entire night drinking?
sitting outside in the dark, simply thinking?
where does my time go when it is gone?
between the dusk and the new start of dawn?
