The air, sultry, full of menace
Thunder heads forming over the distant hills
The animals, birds silent. Gone to places known only to them
They know what's coming
A rabbit a bird they can sense such things
Soon nature is going to reveal her pent up power
Unleash red electric blue bolts to rip the sky asunder
Then, then the very air will reverberate to the crushing sound of thunder
Dogs will cringe and humans wince then at natures electric orchestra
At music they do not comprehend
Some will pray to unknown Gods believing now their lives will end
Comes now the first drops of what will become
A deluge of icy rain
For some that is a blessing as it falls on barren plains
Now the power of nature for all to see
So powerfully revealed
Yes, some may die but many will be healed
Thus is the balance of nature
The weak and old must die
Life is like the ocean and
The ebb and flow of tide
A storm has been building for some hours now and the thunder heads are forming over the southern hills. Between me and it the rip stop nylon of my tent

Seasons

Ah yes,
the seasons, they change but every few months within a year,
they change quickly, and with haste,
they give us reprieves, and then they give us taste.

They give us sunshine, and rain, and cloudy days, they give us blessings,
even on a bone soaked day.
Sure, come the blizzard, sure come the storm!
We'll build ourselves a fire, to keep nice and warm.

The season they,
the seasons they go.
The flowers, trees, leaves and bushes
...they all know.
What must be done.
Away with the summer,
and in comes the fall.

IN comes fall, the turning of leaves,
nearing the very end,
who are you my lady,
and what tidings do you send?

Will old man winter stir up a storm, impeccable,
inescapable, terrible...
awesome.
Both in its fury
and glory.
It's warm, icy, feeling.
Cools our cheeks,
and nips our nose,
just reminding us,
to wear a few more clothes.

Then away with the old, and in comes the new,
come with the new day, the taste and smell of the beautiful spring dew.
The buds with bloom,
and the smell of spring shall be more than enough,
to fill an entire room.

Bless you.

And welcome to the summer,
it's time to go, but already to late to start,
come the beautiful days,
and the late nights,
welcome to great times,
and memories for the heart.

Welcome to the seasons,
that come and go,
make the most of the time you have now,
how much time you have left to enjoy it,
you'll never know.

So take in every day, of every season indeed,
be proud of the small plant you've grown, because you know,
it came from a once small seed.

I hold a stem in my left
Hand,
I hold petals In my right hand
Hand,
Do I release them to
Fall,
Descent,
Crushed,
Under Foot, no longer whole
Do I try to fix
What was once
One
But now
Two
Parts not whole, separated
But do they wish
To be as they were
Do they fight what was
To be separate
Will mean they
Wilt,
Beauty,
Faded,
Or will they merge as before
Being both separate
But together,
A whole
Beauty as one, not separate like before.

betterdays
the crow calls
his mournful dirge
once twice thrice

early this morning
when the sky is  still
grey twilight
and his song of sadness
seeps in past the window frame,
to alight in my heart

today, you
would have been
fifty five...
and there was to be
a massive party
fifty five a glorious age
you said you were going
to retire.... see the world
but i could not see that
you who loved her job so....

but all of that,
immaterial now.
it is just past six months
since you died...
lung cancer...
metatasized to the brain
****** filthy cigarettes

i will raise a glass to you
my friend.....
probably more than one
some in joy and some in tears....

and the crow calls
again and again.....

A flower, Fingers drawn out
As to hold the beauty
Touch
Feel,
Look,
Beheld in the eyes,
Seeing this radiance of
Colour,
A tear surges from emotion
Lashes capture this
Tear,
Water,
Falling,
Before it hits the floor,
A palm wishing to hold
But never grasped,
As this was a sight seen
Eyes,
Cold,
Dead,
Eternally looking
At the beauty before a
Breath,
Expired,
Exhaled
His last look was of
Beauty,
And his thought was
As he lay still,
Was how can there be so
Much beauty in this field of war..

You
Your words
Speak to me
Early morning longings
Soft distant sounds
Far away affections
Lunch hour lingerings
Skyline whispers
Subway quivers
Caressing thoughts
Touching senses
Embracing emotions
Erasing fears
Coaxing smiles
Late night sighs
Speak to me
Your words
*You

Oh ancient dune
What have thou seen

Through raging storm
In lover’s dream
Of sunny days
Restless nights
Tempest waves
Wayward flights
Winter’s blast
Snow and sleet
Summer’s sun
Soaring heat
Changing tides
Eroding beach

What have you learned
What could you teach

So patiently
Your stand it finds
Without a sound
The passing time
Grasses tall
Sands of white
Shadows reach
Holding tight
Perfect shape
Magic stance
Visionary
True romance
Quietly
So serene

Oh ancient dune
*What have thou seen
