Autumn
Poems are known to be depressing
And that is the truth
Everyone knows it
Everyone has written one.

I will admit I have written several
It just makes you feel like you are doing something more productive
than wallowing in self pity
But what about the happy ones?

The ones that instead of making you shed a tear
Make you smile from ear to ear.
The ones that rhyme
and talk about a love that's lasted the length of time.

The ones that make you warm
And in your stomach butterfly's swarm
And everything seems colorful
and life is plentiful.

The ones that talk the greatness of life
O'how grand it is and always has been.
How possibilities are endless and
Dreams can come true.

But there are naysayers
But there are people who prefer darkness
But there are people who despise light
But they don't need to twist your thoughts.

Their thoughts can drag you down with them
They can twist our minds.
But.

Get rid of the negative thoughts.
Try bringing them up with you
Show them lightness and how if you dream hard enough
The sun can shine!

Julia
Lying numbly on the street
Rain pats
Dribbling from fingers to feet.

Reminiscing of times now past
As rain pours
Wiping away tears that come too fast.

With an aching heart and empty mind
Rain dribbles
Searching for loved ones left behind.

Eyes grow heavy and bones crack
As rain falls
Sending more memories of the day everything went black.

Unable to go back and unable to move on
Rain spills
And all is dead and gone.

Summers ago when he was ten
his first blush was born from her glance
on his yard fell the first rain
he had but met her only once.

Most precious gift gave her tiny hand
one that he kept in a matchbox
no ring it was a red rubber band
long lost still at his heart knocks.

How can stop time by a girl's whim
stales never a moment of closeness
when love was an unripened dream
lust was an unknown address.

The boy soon grew to become a man
the girl went to some faraway land
they come but once in one lifespan
his first blush her hand's rubber band.
this poem waited for over forty years to be born.
Best poems are lost in the morn's toothbrush
wash away with rinse fade like first crush
run away with the trail of the bus you miss
fly with summer clouds melt like first kiss!

Best poems are lost with the winds' dusty blow
half seen half known through half shut window
burn away like fire on a long winter night
lure with contour eluding full sight!

Best poems are lost in the crescent moon's glow
when your mind is too weary head hits pillow
evanesce like youthful time smoothness of face
undecoded hieroglyph untraced address!

Best poems are lost like petals in the rain
in the race for vain pride rush for self gain
seen through smoked glass pages unread
crumbling with time wasted like ****!
The almond pearls bounce on the leaves,
Drip to drench me with the heavenly boon,
What magical transformation the sky weaves,
Its wands of clouds creating another monsoon!
There's though a different spell on the ground
Where water flows like a river in high tide,
Silence broken only by a splashing sound
Monstrous holes yawning on all side!
You longed for it in the summer's pain
Hallucinating in agony the coming of it
You curse it now calling it a bane
As it pours from above and deluge the street!

Read to me
while I lie here with eyes closed against the sky.
  Read to me with passion
of the smell of lemon
and musk wrapped in silk and satin.

I rest here in your voice and drink
your very words.
Read to me with lilt of breath.
Breathe me to the brink
  of lasting
as I sink into your sighs.

Read to me gently,
  read softly into the night.

These days I have more flashbacks
Than I do reality
I wish the past would just sit back
And leave this poor boy be

But the past it holds more flavor
Than a stick of chewing gum
When it comes to what I savor
Babe your still the one

All I dream is you and me
Heart struck that youre gone
Forever my love I hoped you see
You are my transcendent song

The places we used to visit
A time when our hearts flourished
When the skies were our only limit
Beautiful times we cherished

Never knowing where we will end
Just a bunch of mysteries
For time to us we thought would bend
And now I have just memories

But as they say all things come to an end
And come to an end they must
For what we once held together
Are now ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Thank you to Mike for this amazing collab experience :)
