She hopes, silently, that he will chase her,
catch her in his embrace and smother her
with feverish kisses.
He wants to glance back, towards the stinging
sun, towards the opposite direction she has stayed in
and beacon her with words of licorice.
She wishes to let her voice drown the antagonistic
opposition to their current disposition and listen
attentively to reciprocated admissions.
But they cannot, will not, because
this is not a fairy tale, this is not a fantasy, this
is the sad reality of both decisions.
And so torn apart between letting go or
catching to,
they walk away towards opposite directions.

I'm not trying to do anything, I'm just sitting and being
and
all of my thoughts turn to how this
pencil fits perfectly between my teeth

the sight of yellow paint and smell of wood surrounds me

and as I adjust my glasses balancing them precariously on the tip of my nose

my eyes are drawn to the stars

and even blurred

they inspire the perfect word
for the aforementioned pencil to scratch onto paper

before it drops from my fingers onto the gravel tiles
and rolls out of my reach along with my already wandering thoughts

into the infinity of blurred stars

Paint me some spring flowers
Pansies and Crocus; purple and white
Dogwood trees with their, pinks and whites
Paint me some green on the grass and shrubs
On the trees, paint some buds
Paint me a cardinal in a pine tree
A Robin in the grass
Paint me some baby birds in their nest
Paint me a baby blue sky with a few puffy white clouds
and Please! Paint me a big orange sun
It's been a long cold winter
Paint the sun as big as a page
I need to warm up
Spring is already late :  )

Often smile and effortlessly laugh
Make the world a better place on your behalf
Have intelligent people respect you
Gain the affection of little children too
Pull through the betrayal of false friends
Also find the best in others and make amends

Feel the triumph of accomplishing a goal
Live your life with no guilt to your soul
Earn the approval of the biggest fault-finder
Know you have helped someone no matter how minor
Recognize you can’t achieve every single dream
Realize life’s quick, so push to redeem

“Here, have a drink,” A man slurred.
A tall, red, plastic cup of heavy smelling alcohol hovered in front of me, like a moth around the flickering flame of a candle.
The cup laughed in my face and dared me to grab it; the peer pressure pouring off of the drunk’s lips was like a buzzing fly that wouldn’t leave me alone.
“No thanks,” I told him.
“C’mon, it’s just one drink.”
I sighed, because I’d been down this road before.
Because just one drink can’t hurt anything, right?
It’s just one.
One that allows a drunken ******* who otherwise has no control over women besides offering ‘just one drink.’
But the flashback that started playing inside my head was a movie screen that felt like a drive-in film where everyone was welcome to watch.
Except they couldn’t.
These drunken “friends” on the TV inside my head who I’d been with a few months ago had wandered off with their own boyfriends, leaving me
Stranded and vulnerable, like a car on the side of the highway without any flashing hazard lights warning other drivers that I was parked there.
They abandoned me.
And who knows how long I would have been stranded until a car decided to pull over and approach my vehicle, tow straps to carry me away.
But he didn’t save me from the other passing cars. Instead, he hauled me around a sharp curve of the long stretch of road,
Left me as a wide open target for his own truck to smash into me, leaving me broken and battered, with no witnesses to call the police, an ambulance or a fire truck.
I was left all alone, bleeding and scarred in the dark curve of the highway where this drunken driver escaped without a single bruise or tear on his body, unlike my own.
“It’s just one drink.” The intoxicated stranger pried at me again, feeling his question burn into me like a red light that just wouldn’t turn green.
“No,” I said and turned away from the drunk.
It was the first time I said no to the smell of dark liquor and whatever was hiding beneath and dissolved into the liquid that was harbored in the tall, red cup.
I said no to being victim again to a ******* drug.

The skies a misty grey
The horizon an eternal dream.
One step closer am I,
To explore these uncharted seas.

Turbulent waters cast aside,
Rocky mountains bearing high.
With you by my side,
I will explore
These uncharted seas.
