nippy twas the morn
as a thick sheet of frost lay
upon the bush ground

Your front doormat said welcome,
your expression said get lost!
last night the break in artists
had a five finger free shopping spree
they made off with anything and everything
which wasn't nailed down
the amount of items they stole
made for a handsome heist
the leaf blower got taken
so did the chainsaw
a full set of wrenches
and sundry other stuff
twas a most unexpected thing
when I got to work this morning
to discover that there had been
a quantity of freebie lifting
a rumor is circulating in gardening circles
 on the continent of England
the said rumor has traveled along a long vine
to the down under land

we the vegetable growers of Brisbane
are very disturbed by what we've heard
to us the rumor sounds rather absurd

we've taken it upon ourselves
to send a letter to the British Garden Society
asking them if the rumor has any propriety

sometimes a story
can be misrepresented
especially when the details of it
aren't correctly presented
we're seeking clarification
from those who have the right oil
as to whether the rumor
has any truth in the soil

this is the rumor that is doing the rounds
and it relates to the High Grove grounds
a Yorkshire man who was sight seeing there
has said that he saw Charles the regal heir
talking to the garden slugs and snails
whilst walking amid the lettuce and kale
we know that his highness loves chatting to the trees
and has often spoken to the earthworms and bees
we're totally dumbfounded to hear
of him talking to garden pests
and we're hoping of this behavior
the Prince will soon divest
to the pages of hindsight
I went to have a read
the lessons within its pages
were of a revealing creed

those many years ago
whence I was but a girl
a handsome fellow
sent my heart into a twirl
I gave him my affection
I gave him all he wanted
I gave him my all
yet I never received
an iota of affection in return

thence in my thirties
a new man stole my heart
and again the same mistake
I made by giving too much
always the giving
giving my stock in trade
yet no reciprocating
took part in our bi-lateral trade

the last man who
gained favor with my heart
took all the fondness
I had to offer him
he took
everything
as if it were for granted
taking
taking
is all he ever did
he gave nothing
in our relationship

I am alone
but that is by choice
as in my latter years
I've wisdom which speaks
of true loves voice
this years Tony Awards
had the best ever emcee
he filled the auditorium
with a panoply of glee

his tap dancing routine
enthralled everyone
as did the comedy
stuff that he spun

he's a man of stage
and of silver screen
that Jackman chap
can certainly set a scene

It is a temple
Where we pray and learn!

It is an abode
Where we congregate and share!

It is a garden
Where everyone blossom!

It is a bastion of contemplation
Each of us sanctify with thought!

It is foliage
Reflects our friendship and wisdom!

It is a castle
Where we find out our hymn to lead a life!

It is a stream
Still flowing and giving elixir of life!
Dedicated to the days of Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), to our teacher, class mate and fellow friends.
