I feel safe
Knowing you are protecting us

Than the service men and women
That stands together to protect us

Street by street
From plaza to plaza
All looking the same
But more beautiful than the last
Trying not to get lost
In the unending place
From here to there we go

They tend to brush it off

You sense you’re annoying

The wind blows my strawberry-blond hair
And I think long and hard at where my ancestors came from
On a small ship that traveled a great length
When my mind is thinking
I think about all of the skills that I have mastered
The string going through one hands and the hook in the other
Waving in and out of each other

A pencil in mine hand gliding across the paper in front of me
Without any hesitation
I think again to realize this is the front that I put up on display for every one
It is what they see and learn about me
That surprises them
It’s a matter of asking the right questions
That will lead to what is unknown to them

We meet
We relate
We share
We bond
We create memories
We share secrets
We laugh
We fight
We make up
Then when the time comes
We leave each other behind
Only to repeat this cycle
Once more around
Whether it is
New schools
New neighborhood
New state
New country
We all do this cycle
That can seem like
The beginning and end
Are so far apart from each other
It just happens
So carry on
Remember on
Laugh on
With all of your moments
Until it’s forced
To comes to an end
