I burnt the bacon
and the grits have lumps
the biscuits are cold
broke the yokes
out of butter
and burnt my finger
and wasn't as hungry
as I remembered

"It's only a poem,
Dont read so much into it."

On comments I get from poetry I write, everything from im sorry for your loss, to did you really go to the moon, or was that a metaphor?

Ja
One day, my wife
Gave me a kiss
So I asked her why
Now why is this

She said that she
Felt bad for me
So I quizzed her, what
What can it be

She said it’s just
Because you see
I’m real cute
And you’re, ugly

Oh, I’m only joking, she sighed
Don’t get yourself all riled
And as she turned and walked away
She winked, and then she smiled

The Lunchtime Poet
I'm the murderer
Who mowed my grass
Killing thousands
With a single pass

Driving over
A giant ant mound
Now there's none
Of them to be found

Running down
A cricket or two
I hate to say it
But I think they're through

Earthworms sunning themselves
In the sun so nice
Cutting them in half
With a single slice

Devastation on the insects
It did rain
Not trying to cause
Them any pain

I'm a quiet guy
Humble and meek
But when I cut my grass
I'm a killer once a week

Finley in Despair
I met my girlfriends family today
Northerners
It was her grandad on her father's sides
Ninetieth birthday but you couldn't tell!
Congratulations
We go out for a meal, enjoying the laughs
They thought I couldn't eat
The giant whaler portion
Of fish and chips

"It's got nowhere to go!"
"Y'don't get fish like that down south"
"You'll never finish that."
"Are you struggling?"
"Good luck with that!"

I only went and ate it all didn't I
Proved them wrong and now I think
I may never ever eat again
A fully suppressed appetite forever
All to make a point and to be
Accepted

To be fair though,
We don't get fish like that down south and
I would eat the giant whaler portion again
Provided someone's doubt in my ability to
Actually eat it swayed me from the large
Ha.
Jotting down memories to make them more than memories.
