The cicadas scream there mating song
Courage runs thru me
I'm gonna tell him
I am
The conversation has lulled
Perfect time
I'm gonna say it
I'm gonna scream it to him
"Babe, I know you love me.
I know you tolerate my children for me.
But babe, my baby is sick.
He's sick in the head.
He..."

I'm gonna do it
I'm gonna tell him the rest of that sentence
My mouth opens
The words begging to come out
It's as though they know me
Know my fear of saying it aloud
Aloud to someone who isn't...
The cicadas crescendo their mating scream
We are deaf to anything else
The words die before they exit my mouth
But one day they won't be there
Summer will be gone
"Closed for the season" sign plastered in the sky
"Thanks for staying!
Come back again next year!"

That's what it says
Yeah, that's what'll happen
The cicadas silence
Fall will come
Along with the words that sit
Sit at the edge of my tongue
The reason I started smoking a pack a day again
Why I'm asked "why are you so pensive?"
"Do you really want to know?"

I'll tell you, then you'll go screaming from me
"An abomination! That's what it is!"
The cicadas stop me
But only for now
I will tell
In the dark
When there's no light to comfort you
Whlie I'm breaking
That's when I'll tell you
Don't leave me. Stay
This is when I'll need you most
When the cicadas have sung their last screaming ****
When the green leaves turn orange
when I tell you what he....

one of my dark secrets
I have this fascination with
the dark poets of rock the dead ones
the ones who blew their minds out
Peter Green
the crazy diamond the
Pearl
Jim Morrison
of course Jimi
I feel connected to van Gogh who died never
selling a painting
an angst a dark sided dream I
wake up to
with visions at times and words caught around my ears
with painted landscapes, I can't touch
so baby
I just wanted to say I am
touched

Be sure to secure your own mask
before helping others with theirs.
Droll instruction, but essential.
Wise advice for all in transit.
In a world of facile familiarity
you will need to clamp it on tight
to make sure it never slips.
Knowing who you truly are
does not mean that others should.
Join in the necessary Kabuki dance.
Let them guess what lurks behind.
They will anyway and usually wrong.
You are so much more and so much less.
Make every day of your every day
a safe and mysterious trick or treat.
Be sure to secure your own mask
before helping others with theirs.

Yes. Valentine's Day is just like any other day
No. it does not make it any less special
I will not look at the couples and curse their PDA
I will see the chocolate and flowers and smile
I will not roll my eyes at the teddy bears for sale sign
I may even third wheel for a while

Today is meant to recognize happiness in pairs
Not to degrade national singles because who really cares?

I don't need a man to keep me busy- I mean happy
I don't need chocolates to feel loved
It's beautiful to have someone beside you
But my best friend is already enough
when you see me without my flowers
I plan on picking my own
Don't judge my date with Netflix
Because if you love yourself enough
You'll almost never feel alone

there are crumbs under the keyboard. he did warn me. the w crunches,

it may be toast. while all around is                          aesthetically pleasing

clouds gather, we await the friday.

Fire blazed on from beneath the skin;
An ***** laced with flame and heat.
Burning my flesh from inside out,
Just to grow once more and repeat.

It wasn’t a problem in the start.
Just warmth inside my being.
But it soon blistered, burbled, and blubbed,
As my troubled heart melted.

It dripped its oozing mess in cracks,
And coated my broken bars.
Slipping across bones and tendons;
Traveling down my arms.

I didn’t want to complain,
as it seared my skin away.
I had no heart to simply cross;
Had no way to demonstrate.

So I collected all the gooey stuff;
Shoving its sticky self in a jar.
Wrapping it tightly with ribboned strings;
I named it simply, “heart”.

Talking of this roaring lion,
as it ruled my land of pride,
Would have no use to explain its flames.
Its high flying, licking tides.

So as I curled into my puddle of flames,
And my blistering body sank through floors.
People smiled as I talked on and on
About my favorite thing, bonfires.
