human star
flesh and blood
speck glow fresh
inconspicuous
buried within the billions
color
I saw you individually
amidst all the rest
a  particularly bright white
shining there in the northern
hemisphere
One tiny light
one hope
one speck, like me
trying to be
a spectacle
I froze my eyes
on that one  piece of sky
never to
take my eyes off
forever

being
different
means
going
against
the school
being
free to
think
alone
though
you're
thought an
oddball fool
at least
your mind
isn't set
in stone!

for who is
foolish but
the ones
who follow
blindly
with the tide
for their end
has e'r begun
to withdraw
to run & hide

in the crowd
they are not seen
in the shelter
of conformist streams
but who of import
has ever been
who did not
stand out like a beam?

be a lighthouse!
not a candle
almost put out
and guttering
there is nothing
you can't handle

God will give you

*roots & wings!

Each day I rise higher
But what is my tune
I feel like I'm sinking
In blues of the moon
And the sunlit tomorrow
Still dreaming of peace
But the gargoyle grey
That prevents this release
Just deceases my hopes
To a blistering frost
Of the wars of mankind
And the children we've lost

All the prices it's cost
All the ads that they sell
All the drugs that they push
As they drag me to hell
So lay siege to my kingdom
My castle of time
My throne of the future
You won't take my mind
With this fake dollar sign
Or this plastic perfection
Just phony expressions

I am the infection
To swine influenza
To pandemic greed
I'm the pile of refuse
Of liberty's breed
I'm the proud single mother
Of Taino suns
I'm the conquistadores
That shot us with guns
I'm the guy on the line
I'm the hungry kid's dog
I'm the choking wage slave
Still inhaling the smog
I'm the cold-blooded bayou
The wilderness soul
I'm the Chesapeake Bay
I'm the diamond in coal
I'm the homeless elitist
The debt degree ride
I'm illusions of choice
Like the heroes who died

To bring you this flag
Painted red with their blood
So that all of god's sheep
Would but drown in the flood
Of the unfiltered Flint
Social media trap
And the classist caste system
Increasing the gap
Of the health to the wealthy
Instead of the sick
Of the weak and the tired
Of getting last licks
So don't think I don't notice
This **** isn't fair
I'm just also exhausted
From thinking you'd care

In this tightly interwoven
tapestry of
           silks and cottons
softness upon stems
an intricately-*****
                     journey
manifesto of life
        I find myself in
patchwork landscapes
of ochre and
rust turning
           turquoise
earthern shades
of cumin and cardamom
cloves and coriander
piquant red of paprika
alighting the senses
My fingers reach out
to sift the powder
to crush
fragrant fronds
of fresh basil and oregano
upon the blueprint of tips
allow their scent
to permeate my skin
and infuse tissue
                of tongue and lips
and I seem to be
in this
           bustling marketplace
my blood afire like
dried ghost pepper
searing and brightening
all flavors
fenugreek and asafoetida
to soothe the ache
of emptiness
chervil and chive
to get juices flowing
I want to slit open
vanilla pods
get at the beans
revel in their essence
wear it all over me

In this realm of spice
and paradise
I am flying,
a magic carpet of dreams
unrolling before me
like an unfurled flag
of new existence
The sounds of hagglers,
fading in raw visons
of shiny apple colors
olives piled high
textures of smooth cherry
budded broccoli
of walnut wrinkles
aroma of guava

Music takes over
I am in a cloud of
oud and lute
syncopated tabla
bells and rumbling
taut skin drum beats
Or is that long low whir
simply my heart purring
to the cadence of
       freedom's call?

I only know
that in the whisk
of a second's split
I will savor the flight
and also the
                fall

When your
heart beats
in a series of code
that your mind
has yet to
decipher
praise your gods
darling
for you're
evolving

Spring faded too soon, yet again.
There's no reason to worry about that.
I would take the forlorn smile of autumn,
Any day, any way.
A soft gentle goodbye is all i hope for now, these days.

Promises have been broken,
I never thought they would last anyway.
After all, every thing i have
came with an expiry date,
and a but Clause
You lose some, some you gain,
But nothing, you own.
And that's okay.

Solitude has opened my eyes,
Destroyed the home company created.
Illusions of belonging,
When all you ever do is run.
Running out of time, bidding goodbyes to life unknowingly,
And that's okay.
It's peaceful here in the oblivion,
You'll know what i mean one day, anyway.

My halo has been crushed,
The weight of these wings were too heavy to bear, anyway.
I miss my home sometimes, but i know I'm never going back.
I see strangers looking out the open doors, their surroundings aged with longing and wait
I hear strangers knocking, on the closed doors,
Their hearts held in their fist, but no one is coming to receive them.
Sometime home is nowhere to be found
So you make one, out of yourself.

You'll build yourself one, if you're lucky.
But it's a fate i would not wish too strongly on anyone.

keep it simple
and complication is hot on your heels

its not easy, but nothing is
so give it a try

keep starting again
and keep it simple as simple allows.
