Harmonies caressed my heart
in soft serenades of
whispering concertos
on the strings of my deepest desires

Acoustic symphonies,
performed on a cappella breezes
in perfectly tuned emotions,
echoed upon my longing skin

Piano compositions
sprinkled with stardust
shimmered before my enchanted eyes
in ivory colored wishes

As my mind thought back to
something I had recently read,
“A smile is worth a million melodies”
finally understanding its meaning ~

for when she smiled, there was music . . .
the most beautiful I have ever heard
Inspired by a comment recently left on one of my poems

Tears mark my heart
I bare this cross
I took the scars
Blood paid the cost
And all I see before me
Is plains of death
Stone statue families

I’m coming home
I dug the earth
I marked the ground
I heard the bodies
Make no sound
And all I am
Is all they were
I’m coming home
To sleep no more

Hands turn to fists
I have no will
To wish for this
My body breaks
Like the last glass dish
I lay my head down
One more time
After I jot down
My last rhyme

No cloud to carry
No one left to bury
No need to hurry
No need to worry
I’m coming home
One last time
Going home to die.

I fell in love with a poet
it was a magical day
Hanging on every stanza
taking my breath clean away

Head over heels I had fallen
reading her each day and night
Lost in her beautiful poems
feeling each word she did write

Hoping her phrases were written
sending affections I'd see
I fell in love with a poet
the poet she loved wasn't me

-

in the darkness far away
chirping songs endlessly play
a nightbird mourns the passing day

with every note his passion bleeds
he's long forgotten what he needs
his mate is dressed in widow's weeds

their sun exploded on the hills
to become a billion stars at will
the summer's heat now winter's chill

how can you sing, O wretched bird?
the sun has died - haven't you heard?

it gave it's ghost without a word

I know this is a rather sad sounding poem but I'm actually in a good mood.
It rained earlier this evening. I'm sitting outside enjoying the cool air. It's getting really late now. Guess it's time for bed.

My dystopia is a blue and gray painting
A blurry eyed vision of you losing your smile
A slurred and distorted visit to a promise broken
It's watching the wind defeat the ocean
My fears and worries so great
They weigh down my hope
And bring my dreams to an underground dispair
A seven knotted rope becoming a noose
My dystopia is knowing that you love me
A star-crossed heaven and funeral pyres
Its silence and darkness as a home
Its bitter ashes from a dead sun
A black hole that swallows
An empty earth we shared
Finally meeting the event horizon
Its our destruction
My dystopia is the thought you walk
Away and always as all I need
It's watching as you leave me
Forever
