Aloft...
I am soaring
though my feet are still firmly planted on the ground

Floating…
on whispering breezes
sitting next to you on a park bench by a quiet morning lake

High…
above the clouds
as we walk through the changing forest this beautiful autumn day

Elevated…
many stories
seeing your reflection in the windows of a sidewalk café

Flying…
with Snow Geese
as we rest beneath a beautiful elm watching leaves swirl to the ground

Lifted…
by your smile
on pristine wings of effervescent happiness

Falling…
more each day
*in love with you
You were that star
I wished on every night
You were that star
In the darkest of times
You were that star
In the constellation of my mind
But stars fall
And that's what happened to *you

What grandpa told me;
Grandpa told me how to not take it the wrong way.
Grandpa didn't ever take anything too seriously.
He always bugged me, and I think he does to this day.
Our games of cards had been something to keep us busy.
There had to have been a logical way to explain what I was asking at that age.
His answers always left me asking the closest things to his age.
His ideal was to show not much anger when you got challenged again and again.
His calm attitude had a appeal to me in my childhood.
