I’m tangled in your arms,
the scent of your musky cologne
cradles me in my nightmares.

The smell of blueberry pancakes and coffee arouse my nose.
Your voice and the sun
call me to breakfast.

I open my eyes,
Your scent:
so powerful
even the sheets had me fooled.

There's glory in her story,
and buckets full of pain.
Once they tip over...
only emptiness remains

There's glory in her emptiness,
it sets her free.

There's glory in her heart
now that there are no limits to
what she sees.

There's no place to go.
There's no one to be.

I loved him— in this terrible, grasping way. Like vines wrapping around and around until I couldn't breathe, and the entirety of the wold was minuscule compared to the life inside of him. Because he was universes within universes; stars in his eyes, the sun in his hair, rich and golden and deserving of more than every ounce of love I could possibly conjure.

He won’t get another chance this time.
I’ll mourn.
Let him haunt me in fragments of memories.
A ghost. A whisper on the wind.
I need to burn sage. Perform an exorcism. Expel him and his voice and his smile, from my mind and my heart.

If life's in motion
It'd be swinging
With my shifting devotion

I'd love to be on
A merry-go-round
Coming back full circle

The merry go-round and swings
All bring gentle minds to the same song
There within the pit of darkness
Within my soul
The depth of which
yet untold

There is a darkness
Growing in my heart
Threatening to tear my world apart

For all that darkness
I can't see
Who it is
I truly be
