My life

Flees from uncertainty
Toward conclusion stumbling
Briefly into …

Awareness

A hiatus from oblivion spent
Celebrating

A gratifying, fragile
Impression-of-reality

Reflective ephemera

I am …
Self-consumed until
I am …
Consumed for
I am …
All
I am.

A domino,
As apt to falling
As being felled

Now,
I place myself in gaps

Adequate for the time

And poetry
Is something I merely ...
Have to do

A rosebud     In the flush of dew
Awakening     With the morning new

Is in her face

The crimson     Sunrise blushing bright
Will come     To bathe this child in light

Of bountiful grace

Pink is     The hue of rose and first light
Of Heaven     And earth and girls who delight

In warm embrace

When all who you had once called ‘Friend’
Have left for their own sake

When every dream that you once shared
Now seems a sad mistake

Make note of those who still remain,
Upon whom you depend

Then ask yourself just what it is,
That makes a friend

… a ‘Friend’

My life is barbed wire
Shall I string myself along?

Suppression takes more forms
Than Playtex has bras

Am I to be dominated
By someone else’s God?

We addict ourselves
To all we hold most dear

Our loves
Our fears

Our hatreds

Enslavement is liberating!

Pass me the yoke
Of freedom

Shall I roses, ruby hued
Shall I trinkets, gem imbued
Shall I words, in passioned mood
Promise love, sincere and true?

Shall I Cupid’s bow request
Shall I darts in you impress
Shall I pierce that perfect breast
Just to prove I love you best?

Not though heart should cease to beat
Not though breath should be deplete
Not though time should life defeat
Could I love you more, my sweet

No earthly flower, nor gift, nor sound
Nor arrow, pledge move more profound

Love is a blindfold
Worn by a fool
Walking along the edge
Of an abyss

Start every day with your song of farewells
But not like the wind that will say its goodbye
In a whisper of secrets then ends in a sigh
To resume, unaware, somewhere else

Speak like an infant possessing no word
Challenging futile maturity’s notions
With eloquent silence and thoughtful emotions
Life’s brief misconceptions unheard

Glide through life like a cat through night
Foot-sure and word-wise and confident in dark spaces
Seek out those paths that lead to new places
Shun crowds and shun bright light
