In the distance I could hear her roaring
I could hear the rolling of the clouds
She is a force of nature
She lifted me up, twisted me around
she blew me away

She took me like a storm when first she walked in
Her sweet warm kisses tasted like spring
But she refused to let the sunshine all the way in
and now she’s gone, gone, gone like the wind

I tried following her traces
of debris and broken glass
I found my heart amongst the rubble
bruised, battered, beating fast

She took me like a storm when first she walked in
I miss the way she used to brush up against my skin
Her sweet warm kisses sent me into a spin
before she turned, and went like the wind

The end,
Felt every bit as sudden as the beginning
There wasn't any magic,
No mysticism to evoke comparisons of the divine
It was simply an instant reality
That no amount of prayers or wishes could change*

______

And I will never find the words,
They elude me each day
Mocking me from their unattainable perch with glee-

People write of love that is
Everlasting by definition,
Beautiful in it's absolute distinction
And worthy of praise and adoration in it's splendor

Somehow,
They fail to mention that love,
Pales in comparison to the sorrow that follows

I miss you

I need to tell you of things, love
both harsh and beautiful
things that weigh heavy on the soul
and threaten to stain the sun

A world like ours, is full of shadows
never let that dim your eyes, stars like those
were born to sparkle and shine rebelliously

Let them rage, against the night and those
who seek to keep the world in darkness
let them rage, my child
until the blinded see

Life is seldom fair or just
but vengeance and hatred
should never be given the chance
to call a heart as beautiful as yours, home

Remember, you are not
just pretty words spoken
but every deed done, in light
and in every dark corner
A poem to my daughter Madison.
The falcon flying high above
Keen eye on unaware prey
Its hostile eyes scanning each move
Oblivious of impending danger
Hovering above it with stealth
Wings spread wide in elegance
Swooping down with speed
Hunting its prey with beak and talons
