Lavender

Bluebird
I remember her.*

On days like these,
she would light up
a few oriental sticks
to make our house
smell like lavender.

On days like these,
she would make some tea.
She had her own rituals,
she dried some herbs,
by the window,
and,when i think about it ,
her hair smelled like lavender.

On days like these,
she would take long showers,
and sit by the fire,
waiting her hair to dry,
and i would kiss her skin,
and touch her body,
which had a scent of lavander.

On days like these,
she would stay until dawn,
to watch the snow fall,
her soul had traces of lavander.

On days like these,
she would lay in bed,
she would talk to me for hours,
until all the pillows and sheets
had a smell of lavender.

on days like this i would
bring home many gifts for her,
but i picked only the ones which
smelled like lavender.

This year she is gone,
but the snow...
it has bittersweet smell
attached to it,
a smell that is familiar,
it smells like lavender.

I need to get you off my mind.
Off my lips.
I can still taste your mouth
as if we just kissed.

He still had
A future to his smile
Without hesitation, boldly baring
His heart in his teeth,
Gleaming.
In all those home movies, before.

He mulls
As if the world doesn't deserve
To know exactly what he thinks.
It's beneath him.

Creativity
Does not flow
The words
(So long you had to breathe them in)
- gone. We know.
Sunk
Into the ground like
Abandoned oil.
What a waste of youth
That's left him.
Poor soul.

I don't care for the way
My words come tumbling out of my mouth
Before I can even sort them
Into socially acceptable anecdotes.

Misinterpret my intonation-
Come morning you'll taste
The disgrace of sober, sloppy lips
On a tired face
In a place you never liked

Besides when you got high.

Hiding from yourself in your own home
I left before you put pants on-
See I have a job
And you're alone,
wondering obliviously how
You became so.

I awoke with a burnt tongue
And wild hair-
My body shriveling up
At the touch
Of the cold empty air.

Naked, and you had the blankets;
How did I ever think we'd make it.

On this day of December
Forgotten thoughts I remember.
I think of the joy that I attained
But still deal with pain that remains.
I feel I went from
Boy to man
I found out I can tell myself
Yes you can
Accomplishments can be made
My heart can be saved
My perspective can be changed
I thought I knew these things before
But I was still behind a door
So I will continue to grow inside
Admit my faults and swallow my pride
I've had good times and bad
So happy, yet sad
If you forgive yourself
Things will change
Happiness will no longer
Feel so strange
For my own values
My self worth
My family
Are the most important things in life
Because on this day of December
I remembered
Love.
I write a December song every year. Every one is different.

wake up little Susie... let's find a new way to cope.
