My best friend Finnigan said it would come down to a close call
We tried to get some fishing in before the maize and blue windfall
Instead we made dip chicken hoping the blue comes out like a cannonball
Waiting for the great Joe Milton to lead the band at the U of M dance hall
Being a fan I helped Finnigan load the van so we didn’t have to stall
And we darted like a spring chicken so we could finish above them all
And arrive at the University of Michigan to see some good ol’ football
Because being at the game again we can cheer our favotite Harbaugh

The whole world is going through a struggle
Everything that’s progressing is making us juggle
Our goals moving forward we will have to shovel
And hope, where we place them, will lead to no trouble
Because one day we will escape from this oversized bubble
To then move out and solve life’s puzzle
Clean our face to remove any stubble
For we will learn to persevere through all of the rubble
When we finish this challenge we will leave no room for rebuttal
My poem about persevering through struggle

It’s getting colder as the months go by
Figuring where I’m going is quite a surprise
The days are shorter and long nights only incise
That the end of the year is coming so we need to arise
And move forward with purpose so we don’t chastise
Any sorrows of our past can’t prevent the apprise
Greatness is coming so we can’t afford to downsize
Our beliefs about our achievement are already authorized
Changing weather and times are here to lionize
That we are survivors as my poem helps symbolize

Superman is not coming so let’s end the debate
Heroes are those that give their all so we can escape
Looking amongst us I see them using medical tape
They are fixing and bringing everyone back up to shape
Because Covid has brought pain to every race
Scientists are developing a treatment so we can reshape
And bring in the light so we can open the drape
To expose everybody and show our new landscape
Our Pastors are preaching so our hopes are a gape
We finally get relief and we can let our lives take a new shape
And realize that not all heroes wear a cape

I always thought time went by slow
It felt like my first 30 years took 60 years
Everything just felt like it moved at a snail’s pace
I wanted to be older so bad that I dreamt about it every night
But once I eventually hit 30 time feels like it is in hyper speed
Before I knew it I looked at my license and it said I was 38
I hope the next time I glance at my I.D. I’m not 40
Because being over the hill is not promising
It just means that I’m growing older

Why does red always have to be the neglected pen color
It’s such a bright vibrant color but no one wants to use it
People need to know that red is powerful
But also passionate and beautiful
You need not fear the red pen
Instead of seeing danger we need to see love
Because isn’t love what we all look for
And seeing red will now only mean love
We can save the red pen

One day I’ll wake up and know where I am
I’ll be able to see what I’m doing and what for
Every day I wonder what I’m going to do for work
Eventually I’ll come to a conclusion that’s best for me
Will it be a spot where I’ll see lots of people and do lots of things?
Or will I be by myself working in a small room feeling lonely
I don’t want to feel lonely, I want to be happy
Doing work that I enjoy while I help other people better themselves
Hopefully I can find that desired profession that I’m qualified for
Because until I find that job I’ll forever be questioning where I am
