Someday I will leave
the cold sea

Leave its dark quiet wake
like all the long nights
I've forgotten

I will go sleep
on the soft shoulder
of the mountains

Watch her hands
cupping the moon

Somewhere west
of these frozen sad dunes

Say goodbye to the cry of the gull
and the bluewater wind I love

that leaves me feeling so cold.
It's ten o'clock , I was just wondering how you are tonight ?
The train has left Palmetto , on the way South on this rain ravaged night .. Sequestered heavenly lights , poetic blue stars should navigate each pull of the lost Moon at high tide , and I'm left wondering where you are tonight ?
Aluminum tint forest on my left and right , siren song of whippoorwill ,
the erstwhile cat's paw message of intercession , a belated cry as to her plight , still left to wonder how you are tonight ? ..

Carl Sandburg
I thought of killing myself because I am only a bricklayer
and you a woman who loves the man who runs a drug store.

I don't care like I used to; I lay bricks straighter than I
used to and I sing slower handling the trowel afternoons.

When the sun is in my eyes and the ladders are shaky and the
mortar boards go wrong, I think of you.

Know that if you hit rock bottom,
Are feeling that all hope is gone.....
There is no firmer foundation
You will ever have to build on.
