Red
I feel... Anger
Unbridled rage, undying fury, like a wildfire through Rome
I bring hell to those who have wronged me, sorrow to those who haven't, and death to all who oppose me
Yet, I also feel love
And pain
And excitement
But it always comes back to anger
Those I love leave, those who love me die, and all I love must end
The pain is always inflicted, rarely tolerable.... And rage always follows
Excited for a new adventure, a new romance, a new friend, a new experience
Yet it was all a lie
The adventure led to pain, the partner a liar, the friend a foe, the experience flawed
So all I have is anger
(Prose) This was a prompt on a very lovely website called Write The World. I thought I should post it here as well.

Humanity - The End
Mitchell Oct 2018
The end of all things
The beginning of life
The love that you feel
The struggle and strife
Finality, fidelity
The blade of the knife
While humanity lives
Death becomes rife

The sky is grey
The waters red
Tensions high
The world has bled
War has come
That has no end
Reckoning approaches
No hope to mend
Humanity suffers
As it always will
Destruction for devotion
The price on the bill
Fanatics falter
Fidelity falls
Gods abandoned
As death comes for all
To humanity’s hand
All shall bend
And in their wake
All shall end

A Duel
Mitchell Oct 2018
Faster
Striking, lashing, dashing
His blade against mine
Lives at stake
Not mine, not mine
It must be him
Faster
I strike, he parries, I strike again
It goes through
A flash of red
A gasp of air
Not his
Mine
No!
Faster
Weakening, faltering
He strikes and strikes
Move!
I can’t
I can’t
Rushing, rushing
Blood to my head, to my side
Blurring, rushing
Parry! Riposte!
No!
Again
Again
Faster
Blade to blade
Clashing, biting
Rushing, rushing
Parry! Riposte!
Stop!
Time slows
Rushing, rushing
Unmoving
My blade, his
His blade
Downward
His throat
Faster!
I slash
He stabs
Scarlet droplets fly
Pain
Pain
My blade in his throat
His in my chest
Pain
Darkness
Nothing
I'm intending this for some kind of performative poetry, perhaps slam poetry
This was originally a small piece of impromptu writing I did.
I would love some criticism

The Earth is Dying
Mitchell Jun 2019
Ever turning
Ever burning
The earth continues on
Ever learning
Ever yearning
Humans venture forward
For each one taken
Three forever lost
Paths never travelled
Fates never crossed
Devastation left
Nothing in the wake
Sown are the gluttonous seeds
Reaped are lives to take
The earth is dying
Humans try
Try to live
But only die

Time

Time
Such a vexing thing
Such a mesmerising prospect
Time turns towards our trials, our tribulations
Our tantalizing treats told in tender tales
Time
The end, the beginning
The wheel forever spinning
Forever moving forward
Forever moving on
Forever
All things end, but do they really?
Though all you see is all you know
Connections thrive aplenty
The greats, the ancients, Da Vinci, Cleopatra
They all live on in the minds of the present
Remembered by many, not truly lost
Nothing is lost
Time
Time brings love, laughter, joy
Death, sadness, suffering, pain, life
Life is pain
Life is love
Life is death
But after everything life ends
Some end dramatically, with blazing fanfares
Others depart with whispered words
But all are remembered
Not truly lost
Nothing is ever lost
Time
Life’s eternal cycle forever turns
Inescapable pain forever
Time
The cruel master of us all
Time is money?
Not even close
Time is pain
Time is infinite, unending forever cycling pain
Time
People
People live through pain
They create love, laughter, happiness, joy
Time gives them pain and they push it back
Pain everlasting, pain ever growing
People ever living, People persevering
Time
Pain
Life
Death
It all comes down to people
People
People like you, people like me
People like all those who live life while they can
People who couldn’t
Time
Time gives life
Time takes life
Forever cycling
Never ending
Pain
Pain unending
Pain everlasting
People
Suffering
Enduring
All of it ends in life
So go forth and live
A slam poem
Inspired somewhat by Harry Baker's 'Paper People'

For You
Mitchell Oct 2018
For you
I would’ve given my life
My home
My heart
My world
For you
I would’ve culled the hordes
The masses
The crowds
The world
For you
I gave my heart
I gave my love
I gave my life
For you
I would’ve died
But you did instead
Just a quick little poem I thought of

Criticism would be greatly appreciated
