What if...
Hayleigh May 2014
What if the sky isn't blue?
What if the grass isn't green too?
What if the sea isn't wet?
What if we never felt the sharp sting of regret?
What if morning never came?
What if there was no sunshine after the rain?
What if the leaves they didn't dance?
What if love didn't involve romance?
What if humanity ceases to exist?
What if time, was all but a myth?
What if the suns rays didn't shine?
What if poetry didn't rhyme?
What if the breeze never blew?
What if birds never flew?
What if colours existed in shades we'd never imagined?
What if no one could recall, terrible things that have happened?
What if there was no such thing as war?
What if no one closed or opened a door?
What if no one died?
What if no one ever lied?
What if humanity wasn't corrupted?
What if this world we live in, wasn't distructed.
What if global warming was just a scare?
What if all parties involved chose to play fair?
What if life didn't end in dying?
What if we were all satisified, just because we were trying?
Bored in hospital on a Saturday so thinking out loud and questioning the world using rhyming couplets..

On my lips
Leaving cherry red stains
That seep deep

Hayleigh Jan 2015
You wrapped up and disguised
lies
in tight green ribbons
like presents
and it was only in the moments
that you tripped on them in the presence
that you actually realised
the irrefutable damage.

Let us find ourselves, lay ourselves bare, run our hands across our naked hearts and not flinch when we say,
here I am home.

Society has laid it’s ***** hands upon us
Let us not live with it’s fingers
Lodged down our throats..

Would bleed the most beautiful

This applies to every single one of you. No matter how little you may believe you are worth, I swear to you, you are worth more, way more than you could ever imagine, in your wildest dreams. You are worth the same as those you value most, that girl with the body you aspire yours to be like, those people that you envy for being so naturally beautiful, your closest friends, your family. You are worth every piece of happiness, hope and health. I promise. You are not a diagnosis or a statistic, defined by criteria, percentiles and numerical figures, no. You are so much more. You are more than the inches around your waist, the abs on your stomach, the lbs that creep up and down on the scales, the self defeating thoughts, the highlighting of your insecurities, the constant regrets.
You are the air you breathe, the laughter that slips between your lips, the fight that you said you had ran out of months ago. The love you share and feel, the smiles that sweep across your face, those moments where happiness feels so close that you can almost taste it. You are daylight, the sun, nightlife, clubs and music and drunken confessions. You are a shining star, the scent of your favourite perfume, your most treasured memories crammed into ink and squashed between frames.

Never doubt that you are more.

Not so much a poem, but i wanted you all to know that you are more.

Thoughts crammed in spaces
Black letters on a page
A heavy handed mass of words.

I write the kind of poetry
Hayleigh Jan 2015
I write the kind of poetry
That gets stuck to the roof of your mouth
That you'll choke on as you swallow down.

I write the kind of poetry
that once you recite,
Sets your oesophagus ablaze,
leaves you burning around the edges
but still staring in amaze.
engulfed in flames for
years not days.

I write the kind of poetry
That you'll spend centuries
Trying to extract from the
Ringing in your ears
As the dangerous impacts
Only grow
And in you, bellow.

I write the kind of poetry
that gets embedded deep within your fingertips
and buries itself securely under your skin
The kind of poetry you'd rip yourself to shreds
In an attempt to
Tear apart, dislodge
Each stanza circling
within.

I write the kind of poetry
You could try to wash
off a thousand times
But that remains engraved
Deep within the wrinkles and lines
The creases of your mind.

Total eclipse
Hayleigh Oct 2020
Sometimes in the soft stillness of the night
She stirs my stagnant soul

Soft lips
Splashed
Hot and heavy
Against
Sun kissed skin

Stars scattered softly
Between
insecurities
Buried deep within

Those simple, stolen
moments where
We lose sight of
where she ends
And I begin

Stormy shores and endless seas
Of steamy summer nights and autumn breeze

In the soft, stillness of the night
She commands me to my knees.

Full moon, half moon, total eclipse

In the stillness of the night
She shatters me with her lips

Encased in a whirlwind of inner turmoil
We claw at rotten soil
To harvest something beautiful.
Something fruitful, of use.
To escape the abuse
Of our own thoughts.
We are caught
In a catch twenty two
Desperate to pull through
And
Make sense of
The dents in our thinking
The depths that we're sinking
The vacant eyes that are blinking
As we're thrown around inside
Our own minds.

Sometimes when I'm lost in this abyss
I wonder if you miss me
As much as I do you.

Sometimes when the clouds start to thunder
A dark and lonely storm
I wonder if you miss me
Holding you to keep you warm.
As much as I miss holding you
When the curtains they drew in the dawn
And each time we were reborn in each others arms,
Together.

And I wonder when these storms will start to clear
Because its already been a year and three days
And in so many ways
I still haven't let you go.

must have been soaked up by your crys
must have fizzled out and died,

Because there's no longer

that used to ignite a room
And put the stars to shame.
And since they died out,

But I've done all i can do

Your lucid and translucent skin stretches itself tightly
across your old, cold protruding bones,
and you, you've spent years, building up
and tearing down homes
in others hearts, promising fresh starts
you've spent decades, practising and perfecting the arts
of saying what people want to hear,
grasping hands with fear
appearing sincere

can only result in

Now is your time
Hayleigh May 2014
Lies heavy
A heart of disdain
Entrenched in yesterday's catastrophes
A morsel remains.
So you sit take
A razor to your wrist
The urge to strong, too enticing, to resist
And inflict pain
Tear open your veins.
Just like paper.
And there's a waiter in the midst
Inside of you
But your waiting and debating
Has got the best of me too.
And we're sat here together
Hands interlaced
Wondering if we'll ever get out of this place.
If that gorgeous smile of yours
Will ever rejoice upon your face
And tumble across those lips.
And despite the promises
We're wondering if the pair of us
Really are equipped for this,
journey you're embarking upon.
Honey I know it will be long,
But you deserve so much better.
Nows your time
Clench it in your tightest fist
Before you're gone.
Before we hear your funeral song.
Darling grab it with all your might
Now's the time.
You have to fight.
Just thinking out loud..

Hayleigh Dec 2014
Words could never capture you,
Encapsulate you, encompass you
Because they are not strong enough
To withhold such beauty
They are too small to occupy
The love you carry
They are too trivial, too mundane
Too exhausted
To distinguish, define and denote
To embrace
Everything that I love,
Everything that I believe in,
Everything that matters,
Everything that is you.

And til the ends of eternity,
shall i carry your heart carefully,
inside me.
Til the stars no longer shine,
til poetry no longer rhymes,
shall i hold your hand in mine.
Til the sea, no longer meets the shore,
shall i love you today, tomorrow and
forever more.
Hayleigh Dec 2014
I press my lips against your forehead as you sleep and dream and once again I evade sleep for I cannot face the thought of it taking me away from these moments, the moments I capture tightly with both hands and cram into the moving photographs of my heart.
Your hot skin tangled up in mine feels as cold as steel compared to the forest fires that dart through our veins, erupting in each other's hearts.
Amongst the debris, the ash, the embers, lies the very foundation of who we are apart and the inferno we are together.
You pull my body into your arms ablaze I free fall deeper and deeper into you, into me, for we, are as one.
The honesty and irrefutable truth of what we share and who we are together, brings sanctuary that could never be corrupted, comfort that distance could never waiver and a security that shall withstand any obstacle and endure strongly, the sifting sands of time.
There is no fear, no others near, no place but right here
With you, in the moments that we share, the gentle pulling of our hair, the whispers on the phone,
Every day we spend and taste a little bit of heaven as we envelope  each other and stare eye to twinkling eye with the love of the Angels.
Blanketed by truth
Sheltered by honesty
Living both inside and out
Each day stronger in our love.
You have proven to me, there are no shame in my scars and that they are beautiful as they are
During the times I feel most broken
You see beauty
I see myself with the same eyes
But you and the love you give
Makes me realise there is more to me
Than I've ever given myself credit for
You breath life straight through my soul and into the depths of me
I trust in you, in us
And every look we exchange, kiss we share, each conversation, measure of silence, each adventure and every magical moment that is in between,
Only makes me believe in us, in you, more.
You raise me high, give me wings to fly
And me,
I promise i will give you all the love you need and more, so you soar,
So high you taste the stars fizzing on your tongue.

I love you.
