I know you’re feeling so broken down,
so turn around, breathe in the soft air,
make dreams with the starry skies.

I know your head is somewhere else right now,
visiting another town, but just hold on,
I’ll be there in a little while.

I know you don’t feel yourself these days,
do what your heart says, lie supine with love
and hold hands with fate.

I know you’re swirling in the darkness,
sleeping with silence, enjoy the quiet,
and hear your soul singing.

I know you’ll feel better real soon,
you always do, keep your head up,
sunshine is never far away.

I know this blue you’re feeling right now,
it drags you down, it’s your choice to swim,
I will keep you on the surface.
There in a garden with flower beds
Laid out with a patch of green between
And old pink roses smelling of cold cream
Spread out in an oval ring
Asparagus fern blows in the wind
Sending its red seeds into the lawn
The birds sing in a damson tree
And I sit upon a rubber tyre swing.

So I recall those warmest days
When there was nothing but play
And the quietness of those times
When my mind was mine
Never went away.

Dear little girl in your simple dress
Lying with the sun
Watching the shadows move about
Their shapes cast on the ground.
Finding only what was good
Under the prickly gooseberry bush
And ants and snails to watch all day
With fondness and respect.

But time and peace end in ways
None of us expect
But the Beauty of those years
None of us regret.

If you look up at the Moon
at nine o'clock tonight.
Then both of of loving eyes
will share this wondrous sight.

And though we're
many
many
many
many, many miles apart ...
Nothing in this world
could steal you from my heart.

I dream until I'm lazy.
It has me climbing up a tree
and all these miles between us,
Love
They just won't let me be.

I've never been so unhappy.
I've never been so blue
and I don't know how much longer I can stand ...
to be away from you.

So when you look up at the moon
at 9 o'clock tonight
Think of where I lie,
Don't cry ...
feel my arms still holding you tight.

I've dreamed until I'm crazy
it has me climbing up the walls.
My heart can't take this silence,
it longs to hear your call.

I've never been so unhappy
I've never been so blue
and I don't know how much longer I can stand ...
No, I don't know how much longer I can stand
to be away from you
A kind of silly love song/poem written many, many moons ago.
