You never wanted to be
The pages in my book
You just wanted to be the bookmark
Conveniently placing yourself
From one book
To the next.

I waited in time
And time was not kind
It asked me to find
My whole heart and my mind
I layed on my bed
And my bed said "get out!"
It said to collect whole self and my doubt
I layed on the couch
And the couch was a grouch
So I sat in my car
I sat and went far
I drove and I fled
Hit a tree, I was dead.

The lie is the outer part of the fruit
covered in thick layer
Protecting that which is hidden inside
The truth patiently waits for it's reveal
By the gesture of one slip
By the unfolding of one peel

Will it ever be "US" anymore
Like it ever was before
Will I ever fall back in love with "ME"
Before I fell in love with "WE"
Will this silence between us
measure the days of our longing
or measure the days of our departing  
When this path I walk alone
ever chooses to bring me home
I just want you to know
That I'll be happy knowing
that your someone somewhere
out there growing.

Why must you go? she pleaded
You run away like the cheetahs
that have found their prey
You fly away like the hawk
that hunts from tree to tree
You swim away like the orcas
that feast across the ocean free
You always try to get back into the wild life
but you belong here with me.
Silence filled the room and I answered
"I was wild when you found me and yes it's true, I can be tamed.
But when I crave to run free my darling, I expect you to run,
to swim, to fly just as fast as the animal that's still in me".
