I have no verse today.
God’s in heaven, angels watch
What more can  I say
Mathew Kohnen
I didn't know
and
I told her so,
she asked again
I replied
the same.

Where do we go when we die?
she asked,
well,
obviously beyond the sky where
angels fly and cherubs sing
and everything you ever wanted
will be waiting for you,

is that true? she asked,
would I lie to you?
I replied,
she seemed satisfied
and went back to sleep.
I know all too well what it's like
To feel sidelined.
Walking on the outlines
Of the portrait of a lifetime,
Part of the background,
With muted sound.
Feeling like there's nowhere to look,
But down.

I get it.
Feeling your heart beat,
But your hearts don't meet,
And you wish the feeling was not this sweet.
Your mind tells your heart to retreat
But it's not as simple a feat,
And as you walk away
So to does your mind stray,
Till you can all but see the light of day.

It hurts to be the watcher.
I picked her off the Richter
and immediately
we clicked, her
body was tsunami,
but she wrapped her arms around me
and she knew just where to go.

if heaven was a haven from
the cyclones we were dreading
then heaven's where we were.
How to poet a life away

Toss the trite learned

Skip grammar mostly too

Rhyme or not is all yours

Step to drummer unheard

Believe in life yet untold

Read a thousand times

More than you write

Live, so you will know

What you are talking about

Take wild leaps in mind

Without losing it too far

Write not only about love

Although that’s all there

Really is or really is not

Fall in some love also

More than simply once

With not only your words

But others in thought

Wishing to poet too

They say keep on going,
keep trying,
but what they fail to realise
we've been going,
we've been trying,
all in naught,
just for somebody to say:
keep going, friend.
