Hollow Aug 2014
Everywhere I let my eyes wander
All the faces I dare to glance upon
They're all the same

It's all water
Placid as glass
Every detail coagulates
Into one blank page
A diary of lost souls

I feel pulled under
By the cascading heights
Of my insecurities
Constantly wondering;
Does anyone else see this?

If the world is invisible to us all
Where do we aim our eyes:
*To the clouds?

I fold my poem
into an intricate rose
still she has no scent

Hollow Aug 2014
Was her last request, and bound to her I happily acquiesced
In that moment I found strength in her misplaced optimism, the faintest whisper of hope

As she turned away, I told her, "You'll be back in no time", not realizing what a cruel lie that must have been
For months I waited as seasons changed, mocking me with their linear courses

My window became my mirror, but all that was reflected marked tragedy
The phone call had my heart coiled in the cold grip of reality, and I fled inwards, locking myself away
I had known the truth, but for months sought to deny myself closure

At the funeral, looking into her once green eyes, I screamed in blind fury, cursing her addictions and beauty
She had the courtesy not to respond

Sometimes, in my head, I jump back six and a half years and return to that dusty window sill
Still waiting

I sit there and hope, although I'm not sure for what
Your name is forever a part of me

I still love you, I suppose, and with all my heart can reach out with, I want you to come back

I did what you said

I waited
Please...?

The Messiah Complex
Complacency is often mislabeled genius
In poems teeming with pretentious words
and trite metaphors bought in bulk
over compensations for a poem lacking depth

There's an elegance  in simplicity
a celestial spark, in the ability
to make the ordinary seem divine
and to turn simple into sacred

We are all gods, aching in our humanity
we are all oracles, with prophecies waiting to be told
So dip your pen a little deeper, press pen to paper
until heaven is felt in every verse

Take these words and hold them dear
as proof that once I lingered here
within these hallowed written walls
that speak the fate of one and all.

Do not mourn me when I'm gone
heal your heart and carry on.
In sorrow ne'er my heart did dwell
for I was blessed to know you well.

Place no flowers, lay no stone
for barren earth is not my home
no marker there to bare my name
no mourners heads bowed deep in shame.

Shed a solitary tear,
then walk in light and never fear
as darkness creeps across the land
I will be there to hold your hand.
