When the world knows who to look for
And how to spend their seconds
What will you say when
Your palms are empty with choices?
When the clicks are in tune without you and
Their sounds know where to go
When you run to find the oceans
Have all but dried up
And you've been looking in all the wrong places
What will you have left, to call yourself?

A container with infinite capabilities
Holding
Memories
Holds
Possibilities
Contains concern, doubt, mistrust
Isolation

The emptiness is full
Filled with shapes
Things indescribable
Trapped within
No escape
No
Escape

Contain, hold, isolate
Same meaning, different capabilities
Choose the container’s purpose
Close it with a thought
Open it
To unveil your next path
The first poem I've written in years
Grey May 2020
How can something that once had great power over me,
Now means nothing?
The same thing I used to cry over
Because I wanted it so bad,
Now means nothing.

The man I once loved
I now see for what it was...

Nothing.

Here I wait resting on the door jamb
standing betwixt and between
shall I stay here or drop my hand,
move beyond what I’ve known and seen?
What will be out there to my left and right
where will the next step take me from here?
They said danger is there out of my sight -
threats, jinxes, and disease if that step I dare.

But if I move back into the shady cool
I’ll be safe in this cozy inner space.
Being in between without old rules
not knowing the beyond I’ll face
is scary but this is a journey of revelation
even if sacrifice and loss is in this race
I trust I will find peace and inspiration.
It seems these days we are in what is sometimes called liminal space, it is a place in between what we have known and experienced and what reality will be in the future.  It is a threshold which is uncomfortable and scary but also full of opportunity and possibilities of new discoveries, growth, and self-awareness.

Against the current,
I swam to the edge of possibility;
and I found myself.
