Just the voice alone.
Had you hooked and seeking a microphone.
Just the hand motion and the split.
Had you wishing you were apart of them.
Eddie, Otis, Melvin and Paul knew the attention.
That David Ruffin demanded.

David Ruffin shoes is hard to fill.
And that to some is a bitter pill.
Unlike Dennis Edwards, he didn't have to yell.
His vocals alone was a true sell.

From the romantic tune of My Girl.
To his proclaiming I Could Never Love Another.
Make you wants to tell your girl she's special.
We aware no man Ain't Too Proud To Beg.
Especially , if he realize he's losing her to another.

And pretty she might not seems to others.
Except he told us Beauty Only Skin Deep.
A message to the strong and the weak.
He made me wants to state I was a Temptation's forever.

As I look into the mirror.
I just pretend I'm David Ruffin.
A man that for a moment was the best of the best.
Until he was laid to rest.
jeffrey conyers May 2017
Some images you can't eradicate.
Some we all must simply embrace.
The spell of David Ruffin is all over the Temptations' legacy.

From the splits  the moves, the swirls.
His legacy lives on with the handling of the microphone.
Who can't name a Ruffin's song?

All of his words sung understandable.
Oh, he mastered the lyrical style of good diction.
Just to search his time within the group.
You find him standing out ahead of the rest.

Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, yes, this group had the best.
But one left a spell that goes to higher length.
Especially when you hear his lead upon "My Girl."
jeffrey conyers Feb 2013
Etta James, oh the lady could sing.
Sarah Vaughn, when I hear Anita Baker in away it's Sarah.
If you never knew one of the two.
You would swear they was one.

Billy Eckstein, during his time.
Mister B, was smoother then Billy Dee Williams.
And he had away of mastering a song.

Which we saw when David Ruffin came along.
Who was a rival to Sam Cooke?
A master of the coolest romantic hooks.

He might have been a little different.
Except Chuck Berry can't be deny his dues.
Johnny B Goode, is nationally known.

The color country boy in his song could play.
Yes, he had to change the word to suit the segregation days.
But Johnny B was African American in everyway.

Who doesn't believe that when you see Morris Day?
That he owe his style to Cab Calloway.

The role of an African American diva could be trace to Lena Horne.
Or maybe actress Freddi Washington.
Or opera star Marion Anderson.
Who sometimes don't get recognition like they should.
Almost like Dorothy Dandridge doesn't.

Still they played on like Josephine Baker.
Who like George Washington Carver faces hostility and problems?

We still trying to educate people about Charles Drew.
Who fame is traced to the blood floating within you?

Against the greatest of odds.
They adapted and blazed a trail.
Through the roughest of times.
They was determine to be.

Who doesn't know Little Richard?
Who borrowed heavily off of gospel singer Billy Wright?
And soon was creating truth within his lyrics.
Until others came along and water them down.

We know truth still is avoided by them.
Except for the man that sung about a hound.
Which wasn't at all about a dog.
But about a cheating man.
Sung beautifully by Big Mama Thorton.

But then no man plays the guitar better.
Then Marva Collins or Rosetta Throphe.
Yes, these women could play.

Some people will never understand Malcolm X contribution.
Except, he left many that's seen today.
Just notice the way he never revisted the prison in any negative way.

We marched.
We protested.
And some of the best controversial stars comes from the musical side.

For no other side of music can touch the blues with truth.
Well, I guess country do.
But the blues takes many forms.

Could be about leaving.
Could be about loving.
Or that stuff you do in the dark with your love.

It could be the howlin'.
It might be the scoffin'.
It could be the chasin'.
But like many styles of music.
Some knows they was creating babies.

Which leads us to Marvin Gaye and Teddy Pendergrass.
Where the Love TKO and Let's Get It On still is the songs.

It's an African American tradition of the past.
That affects the future too.
For stars of yesterdays.
Are seen in stars of today.

A Legacy.
And we know legacies doesn't fade.

Fine, fine, fine, super fine ***?

Named after a month cuz the thought of you last

Yeah you
Tongue ring and accessories
Make me wanna catch yo disease
I wanna inhale what you exhale
Taste whut you smell
My idea of Hell is you not by my side
A yo Shawty

That fire fo you to ride

But together we can make Swiss cheese, American and cheddar
In memory of you no falsified lines
That month befo summer and at de end of spring

365Nectar #8    Crescent City Blues
Tues. Oct 1,2013 10:21 P.M.

In the deepest attic
the thumping blues
paint pastel portraits
of the Crescent City

In burning ripples
words slap strangers
taking refuge in Armstrong Park

Slender, ****, and Shorty
growl muted tones that ravage old bones
whip thru Mid-City
and saunter thru the Garden District
all just practice to sizzle in a wild tap dance in the Quarter

High steppin Indians
march toward God
and defy gravity.

Roaring second line
being led by woman powered Pinettes Brass Band
hold rush hour traffic hostage for days
belting greasy mingling tunes
in the eye of the dusty moon

A pitch black struggle
with the old moon
liberated old souls
entangled in soaked strings
and sobbing fingers

A quintet churns and
challenges the loneliness of pain

Strumming fingers
make out with
humming strings
under a starry blue grey sky

Stomping down long black Oak-lined roads
blowing thru shotgun homes
like winter cold howling
lifting heavy weights
from shoulders
like the sun shifting against bad weather
the blues lady
open the veins
of drunken roses

Lungs full of tears
Irma holla's, cries, and moans remedies
north south east and west of a street called Desire
Oh Etta
At Last

Dim Misty light
cast a heavy shadow
on wiggling spirits
as they cast off pain
Allen Toussaint
in smokeless blaze
tips the night air

Kermit blows
Dusty blues
seducing suffering souls
bounding them to each other in bliss

Whispering around town
in a perfect velvet midnight
sweet exhalations of song birds from corner joints
dance the Ruffin groove

fiery trebles wave at people passing by

Down right ***** blues
muzzles twilight
trombones,tubas, and trumpets
lay harmony
under the harmonious thunder
of the Marsalis Masters
and low down deep
in a musty sleepless corner
is the missing Bass-man..

hung over.

[Verse 1: MGK]
Every day I, wake up, to the same ****
In the same house, with the same bricks
In the same clothes, with the same kicks
I might as well be in jail
Caged in, stairin' at the wall waitin' for a change but
Dad telling me I gotta get a job
Couldn't pay the bills so the lights turned off
Them Cleveland boys got it hard
Oh my god, we been living like this too long
Just to lose it all in a week
My people too strong
Get it? Me and my boys be gone
Puffing on **** like this the lawn
Me and my boys tired of being here
That is why we gone
They say we wouldn't amount to nothing, huh?
Y’all thought we was bluffing, huh?
Fought every temptation ****, I guess I’m David Ruffin huh?
Nowadays, we don’t gotta do that dirt, tell my boys they good
And nowadays my little girl won’t have to work, moved her out the hood
Look man, I done been through it all, and I’ma ****** if I got this far
And if I let them strip me of this message let these haters take my heart
This for the ones that had it hard, the ones like me, the underdogs
This for the ones that waited for them clouds to fall, please god let it

[Hook]
You can't see my tears, in the rain
Underneath it all, we’re just the same, same, same
You can't see my tears, in the rain
All around the world it’s just the same, same, same
You can't see my tears, in the rain
So I let it rain

[Verse 2]
And they mad that I made it out the city
But if you look I'm still out in the city
Before everything I had clout in the city
Two other states and never bounced on the city
Shout out to everybody that’s proud in the city
Everybody cheering in the crowd from the city
Everyone that never had doubts in the city
Cause they know I represent what we about in the city
And I’m still laced up, tell the world that’s nothing changed
Till it’s hundred dollar bills in my pocket, then nothings change
If my team ain't with me, then I don’t wanna thang, tell them I'll go broke before I run out on my gang
EST over everything
100 thousand plus, cult fan base yea that is us, my songs tattooed on they body troubled youth, we bad as **** and what?
Nobody gave a **** about for broken mirrors
So I care less about appearance
Just as long as they can hear us
We’re fearless, we’re stupid, we’re dealers, we’re loser's
We’re killers, we're orphan's, we’re addicts, we’re stealers
We’re shooters so **** us
We are what they say we are until conformity hits us
Or those clouds come down and take them all with us, please god let it

We are not bad people, we just have bad ways
Yet, not many understand
Have love in your heart for all
We are all one in the same
jeffrey conyers Dec 2013
Who hadn't imagine writing a sixties style Motown song?
Whether with Diana or Smokey or David Ruffin blazing the lyrics to their tune.
It just depend on the arrangement.

With Ruffin, you just needed the soul to emerge.

Lyrics below:

As you leave
(Just walking out the door)
Just remember, no one will love you more.
(More than me)
As you walk
(Walk on-walk on)
Just remember these words

I gave you the best I could.
I supported you like I should.
And I know
        I know
        I know
No one could love you better.

Think of the things I've done.
Then tell me, I wasn't the one.
Who treated you like a treasure?
That was lost then found.
So I know.
     I know.
     I know.
No one could love you better.
(Better than me)

They can promise you the world.
Which I had within the grasp of my hands.
But it wasn't enough for you.

So true, so true, so true.
So that's, why I believe?
(Nobody could love you better)

It would only take minutes to see.
Who could love you better than me?
Just who?
Just who?
Just who?
Who will be the next fool?

I've played that part.
jeffrey conyers Dec 2012
His warmth seems to come through.
It shows in all his videos.
Where you'll find the coolest Temptations wearing a smile?

His false falestta hid his tenor tones.
But in the songs his voice made them rings.
Whether it was Paul Williams or David Ruffin singing.

Even when he was out front you reconized the man.
Eddie Kendricks smile was front and center.
It's part of his personality you'll remember.

From Why You Wanna Make Me Blue?
All the way to Just My Imagination too.
You felt the sincerity with each song.

Even during his solo years.
You still felt a connection to him.
From Honey Brown to Keep On Truckin'.
You realize his importance.

Berry Gordy founded Motown that's true.
Except Eddie Kendricks contribution help it to grow.
This a lot of fans show recognized and know.
It just wasn't Smokey.
Even those he help everybody's along.

They were there
In the lean times together
The in between times
They  helped each other weather
No we won’t forget them ever
Music was their endeavor
And it will be with us forever
Until the twelfth of never

They were two fifths
Of the mighty Temptations
Which earned them
Lots of standing ovations
All over the world
In many nations
They shook the
Music industry’s foundations

And this ode
Is not written for nothing
Cuz Eddie Kendricks
And  David Ruffin
Were as smooth
As butter on a muffin
And should always be
Part of the discussion

Both of these men
Are long gone
But their memories
Will linger on
Today, tomorrow
And beyond
So if you agree
Then respond

Bryant, Williams, Ruffin, Kendricks, Mcgilberry, Davis and Harris.
All are apart of the legacy of Temptation's forever.
And now they are rockin' in heaven.

One with a spin.
One with a grin.
One with a smile surrounded by a heavenly choir.

The sun got brighter.
As the cloudy day faded away.
With the Saints of the Sanctuary marching to the gates.

One with spec.
One  with a double breasted suit to the microphone.
With the choir of harmonizers singing along.

And they get inducted into the halls of Rock and Roll heaven.

The audience is supplied with starts.
We see Curtis Mayfield's will his guitar.
And Elvis ready to join in.

In Rock and Roll heaven, they all are musical friends.

Even Johnny Taylor and Sam Cooke and Otis Redding is ready to sing.

And Bobby Hatfield's ready to go upon a solo.

Oh, they must be rockin' behind close doors.
Ready to greet a Staple's singer through the holy doors.

God welcome only a select few.
While we upon earth debate about who?
In truth, only He knows, who He will bring?

And they all don't have to see.

If you've been touched by a song they sung.
Then you're aware of the bells that's been rung.
God, has placed his heart upon everyone.
Especially, his selected choir.
jeffrey conyers Sep 2012
Felix Calvalari and the Rascals singing Groovy.
As I ride along.
What a lovely uplifting mood song?
Of two people enjoying the mood.

And the Beach Boys singing Don't Worry Baby.
Stating everything is going to be alright.
How can you not love a lady like this?
Who gives off great confidence.

I truly believe, I could never love another.
After loving her.
David Ruffin's blended truth behind the lyrics of this Temptations song.

If I lost her in any way.
I would try something new to reconnect.
The Miracles truly spoke the truth about the things love will make you do.
I guess I'm in a sixties type mood.

When words solely spoke straightly to you.
I understand the woman's that seek respect.
Otis Redding wrote the song addressing it.
Altho' Aretha seems to get the credit.

What can I say about the two Dions?
With Dion Mucci singing about Donna the Primma Donna.
The type you probably couldn't get to ride a honda.
And then Dione Warwicke singing about singing about praying.
Oh, yes I'm in a sixties mood.
When words solely spoke to your heart.

When the Beatles stated don't let me down.
Them words was a message needed to be heard.
And papa never had a brand new bag.
I'm still trying to figure out those James Brown words.

Well, I relax for a few minutes.
Until I get ready to play another song.
Cause for the moment.
I'm just enjoying these sixties songs.
Vanitha J Jul 2010
You still sanctity my dreams,
Worse than reality, your shadow hits me black.

I exhale - The dust of memories
I inhale - Promises in the air
Fragrant are your thoughts
So mysterious like our bond.

Ah, I'm hallucinated by memories......
Its time for the dawn to break,
I hear dogs barking far and near,
Birds chirping, Cool breeze ruffin the trees,

I refuse to sleep and dream
Why should I find you so near but never here,

No relation ends with a break,
It can only break but never end.
Sit back as I free base the mic
Keep ya *** tight

Say, Elvis, say south.
Say, Little Richard, say south.
Say, Jerry Lee Lewis, say south.

Say, BB King, say south.
Say,  David and Jimmy, Ruffin says south.
Heck most of the Classic Five was southern born.

The message is within the history of these southern born artists.
Where all mention above is still highly praised?
Alabama, Georgia, and Kentucky too created a feeling still bringing news.

Wilson Picket aka the Wicked one.
Jame Brown and Jean Terrell heritage are within the southern region.

If you don't know nothing comes from the south without gaining your attention.
Did I mention Dolly Parton"
Conway Twitty aka Harold Jenkins and Porter Waggoner.

Something within the spiritual birth.
Check the history of Chess Records blues artist.

By the way even Berry Gordy.
I'm a poet I love writing and putting words together it's a very simple but yet complex it's really all we have as humans...language

This I entitled "Geto CNNs Reportin'"

Im here to report the news ignitin' the fuse
To dim-witted crews feel these ghetto blues
Through my ****** flow Coltrane blow
Trainhorn born in the eyes of the storm
I calm nature it's an invocation
Of the creator you fools grimy players
In this industry how many died empty
Knowledge of the brains is real health
So *in' chasin' wealth stay in stealth
Enemies be on the look out lurk out
See the guns out another black out
See the lighted halos tuned into the radios cosmo so there goes
Another dead brother no other
Reporting the real feel the thrills
Knew i had a weak will once i saw bloodspill
TVs layin' the illusion it's an intrusion
On ya mental so it's bound to be confusin'
While you chasin' wastin' and pastin'
sh
t on the internet with so many sharp threats
I take drama apart before starts to grit
From City to city i see the high rise of obituaries
tears stains of the ghost wonderin' through cemeteries
buried by guns evil flurry no need to
hurry
Since death has no patience it's waitin' chance
Pay close attention before ya be caught up in the glance

Since I was raised a street fighter passions of a raw writer
I'll body slam ya harder than Vega
Version two see me ghost you glue you
To the concrete couldn't beat ya feet cuz my heats
Too fast newsflash I'm leaving a **** so suckas cash
In all they checks mics i wrecks
More than effects check
one two
I got the spirit of Sun Tzu from red to blue
Them fools still gone smoke you
It's all a game see the lames see the fame
While the OGs remain the same from a broken grain It's a prison
reign pain
On this physical domain I broke the strain
I know a lotta brothers died for nothin'
While others died for somethin'
I got welts on my brain from the tight cuffin'
Stuffin' my mental with garbage bluffin'
Innerstand I'm just a common man like Ruffin
Left for dead since I first was bred
Competition eliminators blacks the originators
Soul invaders stashed away my papers
Not talkin' loot light a roach than shoot
Straight to the stars with no car look
a far
I'm gassed by Saturn's fuel who wanna duel
With the presence of Sittin' Bull a lone warrior
So don't think my techs will be ignorin' ya
when my techs sneeze
ya body freeze
thirty below zero
the violent hero
make ya sing high note
like saprano say **

hopped back on the short bus
cuz my flows so ******* rewarded
from the spirits above sho no love
those who hate see suicide death date
Egyptian sheets covered over ya pate
who can relate?
to the madness that thrills so hard
make ya body peel from the blood spill
adrenaline rushin' slowly to concussions
with yo heart beat rushin'
enemies more common man than David Ruffin'
show ya ***
you get a lyrical **** ******' keep on truckin' like Kendricks
all you haters *******
im on that purple haze like Hendrix hittin' chicks
makin' licks hoes on my biscuit
eat flows up like a box triscuits
slow ya role as walk through
makin' ruckus as im uppin' the death percentages
givin' hugs from slugs
clearin' blocks n streets for distances long kiss

I have thrown away our powers
Joining with Trump's followers
Poured the country down the drain
Now my head I am scratchin'
Cuz this Trump keeps ***** Hatchin'
And I fear he won’t refrain

He has made the U.S. brittle
Played us like a fiddle
And why? I can’t explain
All these thoughts I am thinkin'
I just might well take up drinkin’
If it would only ease the pain

Oh, why is Trump our guy?!
He’s a racist that’s fer shore
He just Tweets these things then says them by the score
And then he tweets and bleets some more

I wish I were a Ruffin'
To stand up to Trump’s puffin'
But I don’t see how I'd gain
I’d be the POTUS 2020
If Repubs still have a Party
And I have not gone insane

Your world.
Your wonderful and beautiful world.
I'm comfortable within it.

Safe and secured surrounded by you.
My protector.
My love.
The only one, I'll forever love.

You're precious.
Very rare of many upon this earth.
One I cherish.
With the uttermost of unselfish love.

I welcome every minute with you.
Cause I'm comfortable in your world.
Proud to proclaim you as my world.

And like the song David Ruffin sung upon.
Happy to call you, my girl.
jeffrey conyers Feb 2016
Whatever happen to men?
Who sung about love?
They surely could teach this young generation.

Eddie Kendricks , stating tell her love has felt the need.
Smokey Robinson, singing baby come close.
And the man called David Ruffin burning out just let me hold you for one night.

Tell me.
Tell me.
Whatever happen to the men who sung about love?

Teddy Pendergrass, singing feels so good having somebody to love you back.
Even the brit Tom Jones stating-I never fall in love again.

The meaning of the messages were in the lyrics.
Especially when it came to Barry White better known, as the maestro.

Some today only live in the physical sense.
While thinking that's where love exist.
Suckas be living in temptation
On cloud nine my rhymes leave ya with clogged minds
Cloudy days no more sunshine once I step in line
Reign on parades coatin' brains with my serenade
And if you an enemy be prepared to get glazed and sprayed laid out the roaches raid
I be the black iguana don't need marijuana
To get my mind flow Ill break you down to the last particle
Atom principles formed my scientific leave events horrific rhymes terrific
Plus I got women backed up like traffic
I'm brand new like cover plastic beats elastic
Many wanna step to this only to bloat in they own **** my style'll diss
Any hater who missed the greatest lyricist
Fools claim they hot until they become evaporated
From rhymes I created and intitiated
Feed diesel for my ****** fluids wicked as Druid
Exposing fake guys who ain't that wise despise
Creativity but embrace negativity **** all the rap ****** in the industry
They playing themselves I lay grounds more dangerous then the mobsters
In Italy addin' talley freak a Sally in the alley
As bring the Heat like Pat Riley no smilies

Once the guns get the dumpin' arches made like camels humpin' adrenaline rushin'
A common man like David Ruffin' soon to get a stuffin' from the mortician haters wishin' and dissin' you'll be reminscin'
On a memory like Ron Isley I be the wickedest like B I G got every-body on bended knees to hear the beautiful melodies
Keyed into ya mind I rhyme not sublime grind a beat til a definitive y'all be tentatives
While my assertion affirmative it's my prerogative huh brown as Bobby
Spanish locas call me papi short for M'daddy
I go by the moniker Yosef the most explosive
I rose from the grave once I entered the earth
Laid out my perks making" works like  JC in BC unda the Romans papacy but somehow I see black imagery
All over the nation test me you'll be in an eternal vacation
From my gats wasting walking down the spiritual corridors with no floor as the spirits adore
Check it out this a piece I did it's a song '1980 Somethin' similar to bIggie 1970 Somethin..

1980 somethin' I came out entered the world with nothing
I was just a Common Man like David Ruffin
Times was tough then no love was within
Everybody was out for self since independence came in
Drug epidemics made for hood experiments
Look how many dollaz was spent  from corrupted government
so many souls was left bent
Sittin' on the cemetery hills
I can the see the ******* that spills
It was 1980 something when Huey got the dumpin'
End of the Black Panther founders chapter
And blacks didn't even uprise after
Riots to melees touched all corners of the earth
For what's it's worth I even seen whites in the black church
Sheddin' tears over innocent brothers put in a hearse
Over misconduct justice
Everyday I wake up and ask the heavens why I'm cursed
Gloomy ghetto sighs of a berretta entering over a dispute of cheddar
Since this world's so cold get you a thick knitted sweater
Unison will mean we much stronger together endeavor any weather
1980 somethin'....
Crystals in my eyesight, from the diamonds pressed so tight,
In my rollie, lexing plexing, over suckas thinking they got next and,
See these hands, move like Liston, or better yet a piston,
Four stroke cycle, mind state of Michael, the killer bees is loose,
Who you choose?, better say me homie, I don't loose on the mic, too easy,
Breezy, cool calm and *****,
Oops I mean tipsy, got the girls up in the club, looking **** crispy,
Snap my fingers, two of the most expensive bottles, guaranteed to the bust the throttle,
Girls sitting wide open,
Hid the wifey despite thee, chaos a may bring amongst my own family,
Keep it on low the like R Kelly, no jail bate stitched next to me baby,
Gotta be at least, old enough to buy a drink **** what you think,
I meditate off of the Buddha, lounging on the couch, while the girls sitting like a Sphinx

Spin the world off my finger tips, this bangs hard like Bloods to Crips,
I keep grips, to the game never loosen up, Houston barre baby,
So I keep syrup in the cup, so what's up? I smash faces that's corrupt,
*** rush the show, like cops blazing through the door, we all out for,
War I was made to be in gore, you fools fallen more than Al Gore,
Girls call me President Bush, weapons of mass destruction,
Cue the percussion, end of discussion, got more pain than David Ruffin,
Y'all fools is bluffing, I can make hits without the need of cussing,
Learner of Nat Turner, royal family see too many grants handling me,
But I feel better with twentys or Ben Frankies, peep the money laundry,
Keep it clean, no hate can come in between, keep thirty in the magazine,
We aim for heads, til it's guillotine, one man team, looking for Diana,
Who's supreme, midnight theme another soul headed out for the cream,
Ain't no dreams, this that live ****, preach the real, so hot not even hell could sit,
jeffrey conyers Feb 2019
We hear constantly about Berry Gordy.
Yes, constantly.
Next, probably be Smokey.

Except, let's be real.
Every recording group that hit higher height contributed to the success of the company.

We very aware of the great composers/lyricists and producers.

Every Supremes there have ever been.
Were vital to the label staying vibrant.
Whether it was Diana or Jean the hits kept coming.

Who?
Can't recall the voice?
A man name David Ruffin.
A shadow in the background that rose to the vocal call to lead.
Made the group more known but stay a member of strength with Eddie and Paul.
The group just can't escape them.

Got more magnified with Dennis Edwards on lead.

Somehow, many has regulated  Mary Wells to a lower level.
But it was her that placed the label in the spotlight.

We edit down, what we don't want known?
But many contributed to Motown success.

Stevie Wonder, Sylvia Moy, Clarence Paul, William Stevenson, the brothers of the Funk sound.
Marvin Gaye, Ivy Jo Hunter, Harvey Fugua, Johnny Bristol and all those that came later.

We know the success of Ashford and Simpson.

And truth be known and never spoken.
The label didn't start out trying to appear to a boarder market.
Just a company trying to make it.
jeffrey conyers Feb 2018
Following, a star takes a man able to adapt to it.
You did it.
Hits proved it.

Unlike your predecessor, you weren't the microphone ****** or splits master.
But what you were?
Was a bright star unknown who excel behind him?

Sure, you changed the color tone of the group.
But your legacy stands out in bringing the Temptations a new style.
Which eventually brings honor to the group.

If Ruffin was the Martin Luther King of singing with a religious message.
Then obviously, you was the Jesse Jackson shouter with a theme.
Until you listen to the song "Memories" and many wonders if that's you singing.

Oh, legends usually leave their path of honors upon a group.
And when the group is honored by imitation Temps, your hits like others is your blueprint.

Heaven has gathered together all the leads of the Temptations to say up above, we all Are blessed.
Looking at the past memories of my dead homies
It's photographic and graphic streets are mastered
By death and destruction once the percussions start bustin'
The blood begins rushin' I'm just a common man like David Ruffin'
Ain't no bluffin'
Over here I seen tears behind tears expose all fears
As the rain drop and the sunshine gotta keep on grinding cuz hataz ain't minding
They own biz took notes from the wiz
And now my kids gotta gig to dig as my thoughts fume
From the smoke of an e'cig and yeah the game is rigged
Just look at what they did to all revolutionaries
It varies and enemies carry the same disease please don't sneeze
Cuz deaths love to bless you soon to stretch
The world we livin' in is cold as I'm on a mission continya to roll

And I remember when God's tears flooded the Earth's atmosphere
Cuz had to wipe out sin to see a picture more clear
And here I am still not giving **** about Uncle Same
Paying taxes on top of taxes **** got me tilted like an axis
Satisfaction guaranteed I'll give you what you need
Make your enemies bleed indeed once my index finger squeeze
Enters the heart of another brittle soul
As his eyes rolled in soon to be rolled
Off Into a hearse sorry but I had to break the curse
Though the Bible's done much worse
Check out Leviticus look how they did us
Learn rules to the game changed my slave name
It's Yosef now coming as a soldier I thought I told ya
I'll never roll over hataz jealous like Jehovah
Keep the gat cocked back like a cobra
Ready to strike this world we livin'in is cold
As I continya my mission to roll

Elders used to say black blood is all family blood and looking at the rise of the young thugs packing them slugs
But I still got ghetto love cuz my heart's above
The ******* though we may bump heads
I'll never give ya up to the feds we gotta enough on our plates
See they hit Bill with the ******* cuz the homies was finna take
NBC for a billion dollar currency blacks folks know you who ya enemy
Is and take care of our kids we all we got
Until another brother or sister drop
By the crooked cops keep them pistols cocked
I'm yelling **** the law from my maw
Raw as my grandpa packing a saw
Off shot gun
Catchin' cases without a run leave my foes stunned and shunned
See what my legacy done
So with that said this world we livin'in is cold as my mission is to continya to roll
My records spin pass Guiness,
Yo I'm in this to win this, hands stinging like Roy Innis, haters witness,
The blood on my fist, from leeching tasting this, style of a sword grist,
Pain makes my brain, stronger in the range, I shoot a shot, *******,
See the lyrics grow insane, eyes bugged out, like seeing souls drained,
I'll remain, number one seed, draft pick, hellspawn chain licks,
I'm loving it, hovering over the souls, like a canopy that blows,
In the wind, not for show, this for ya mental,
No sentimental,
I turn murders scene comical, joker flow cant stand with cycle,
Of the astro, wheel I'll appeal wicked as God,  with the gold plated steel,
For real, I seen blood spills, I gave King David his kills, by the thousands,
Looks like I'm wilding, styling, over these new kids, I break wigs,
Check the digs, of a mastermind, dug into my universal mind,
Expose the hidden signs, one eye with a sty, wicked slick and sly,
Papers order for the final fry, century 19 to the 13, rose a state of surpreme,
A king before the dream, a project before the beam, the I in the team,
See the superwoman theme, exterminate manhood, there I stood,
Holding my wood, stick see the judges waving the wick, black magic,
Fed to state bureaucratics, leaving wallets deeply impacted,
Poor get a chance, to sell out to riches, new world, but too many glitches,
I see the same moon, the same stars zoom, when the light become gloom,
I'm in my room, like Ruffin day after day, hoping the dark skies, fade away
Now say, what ya gotta say, I'll sit back and hold enemies as prey,
I feast like a lion, I ain't lying, plot for the skill, I stay multiplying, eying,
My legacy, I see them peepin me, like ODB I feel like the lost son, of jesus baby!
It crazy, how many memories, can fade me, I stayed with the, saul agony,
Hearts of many, turned to stone, still standing strong, on my own,
Like Patti service the shotti, while praying to Pesci, dont disrespect me,
These liquid swords, will have ya singing, soprano vocal chords,
Step up to the club,
Like im the man,
Dennis Rodman, but no rebound man,
Yall others gotta take a stand,
Witness the band,
Neptunes, providin' the beat goons, makes for moonsoon,
Floodin' the rooms,
Once the lyrics boom,
Inside ya nostrils, like perfume,
Sweeped like a broom,
Hook got cha consumed,
Feel the dance that zooms,
Inside ya body,
****** shots, of adrenaline, front maids to middle men,
Throw ya chips in,
No need for clips in,
We get it crackin', smackin, critics who say wack we was then,
Bumpin, cadillac music
Country *******,
Still ridin' twinkies on the truck, press ya luck, make all haters duck,
These gooses showin' trueces,
Once my team infiltrate,
Y'all cant shoot us,

Now we know you aint about nothin,
Make ya jump more than Joe Budden,
On these rhymes, we stay cuttin,
Sound the percussion,
End of discussion,
Smoother than David Ruffin,
Critics stay bluffin,
Madel cuz we made somethin',
Out of nothin,
Now all of sudden, they see the charts smokin,
Once i was set on fire, respect the sire, referred to as the Messiah,
Messa similar to Telsa,
And i dare ya,
To step on this, track and field, let these words shield,
If eyes could ****,
Itll be lotta folks with no healz,
Put me in jail, and ill still bail,
Out with counterfit bills,
I Keeps it real, like flesh hots bullets of the steel,
My ambition tryna reach to a bill,
Without courts tryna get a steal,

Girls crowdin' around me,
Latinas call me papi,
Still sip the Brugal,
But never sloppy,
We call head toppy,
To the leechers, tryna copy,
My styles is incredible,
Non-edible,
You ***** pitiful, put it back to rehearsal,
Expose those, records labels payin' you, playin' you,
Im bout to gass you,
No lite for flames, rid of lames,
I climb higher,
Than Lebron James, make ya say again,
In the rain like Cain, gather ya ear drums in a sang,
Brains is clang, its clubber time, dropped in the rhyme,
Now its in the divine timeline, greatest beats, of all time,
Pinned like a sign,
Press play then rewind, as ya mind to speech, deeply inclined,

Without, you just apart of a dream.
With, you can achieve more than possible.
Somethings you just know.

As one, you can stand out.
With two you notice more.
Somethings, you just know.

As with groups.
John Lennon stood out with his glasses.
Somethings, you just know.

As with the Temptations the Classic Five version.
Who?
Can't see David Ruffin stood out in the group.
With his gestures and raspy vocals of hurt, pain, angst, and sympathy.
Somethings, you just know.

But so did the rest of the unit.
Somethings, you just know.

Just like in the scriptures.
Many stand out a little more.
None more so than Jesus.
But you know some about his mighty disciples.
Who?
Can't name the disciple that betrayed him?
Doubted him and denied him.
Somethings, you just know.

Hard for some admit.
Easy for some to acknowledge it.
Within a few four years Davis Ali Ruffin left his impact upon the Temptations.

Hard to admit but many are aware of it.
Eugene Record left his greatness upon the Chi-Lites.
And when it comes to the Miracles legacy.
All you got to do is say, Smokey Robinson.

The world knows of his impact.

While there are more to be mention from this perspective.
None has left a more lasting impact than Jesus.

We must be in love?
Or fools walking in it.
In truth, I doubt we even feel it.

We soak to the bones.
Others referred to it as a love jones.
A new twist to it.

I guess I call it a rainy day kind of love.

I didn't wish it would rain to hide any tears.
I will admit David Ruffin kept it real.

I just got caught up in this new love of yours.
Which took time to built between the two of us.

What else?
Could it be?
If I'm letting raindrops drench me.
I guess Love Unlimited hit it on the nail.
Singing walking in the rain with the one I love.
It feels so fine.

By now, it's known.
I'm determine to make you my own.
If I got to write a poem.
Or tell God to stop the storms.
I'm determine to have you in my arms.

Ooo
Get the message(Get the message)
Nothing gonna stop me(nothing gonna stop me)
Get the message(Get the message)
That I am so determine.

By now, you see(you see)
I believe we was meant to be.
If I got to write a note.
Believe it's not a joke.
That I'm determine to win your heart.

So
Get the message(get the message)
Nothing gonna stop me(nothing gonna stop me)
Get the message.
That I am so determine.

If I got to lose something.
It won't be you.
After all the things I been through.
Just to win your love.

Dedicated to David Ruffin and the Temptations
Decapitate the leeching *** medusas
evil Seducers tryna turn my gem into stones
Been rolling stones since papa was never home
I learn to play my ear to the street chrome
Either way I had to write my own passage
Of a savage turn the page to lunatic havoc's
Saw my own death once I took my first breath
Into this ghetto world moves like a swirl
Acid axis saw the abraxas advoid the taxes
maxes Heads out here priced up lounging in dice
Entice spit nice
Burning suckas with the lyrical poltergeist splice
Mental verbs spread once the herbs fill nerves
Suckas know they finna get served curved
By my ragin' antics skipped the semantics
Got **** beats I romance it so don't chance it
None freaks it harder than eye spy flies
Black suits with mob ties see me improvise wise!!!
Word up!!

I turn loose jimmies into crickets
Stinking with the mystics hieroglyphics
Raps I flipped it crispy til they feel it
On that Ruffin flow steelo feel me so
Stay mellow with the juices to go out pores
My rain beyond a blood stains cranes
I mentally cater to a hater makes me greater
But them be the same haters that Sega
Genesis once they get a whiff of this
Got 'em loosing touch over the pulse rush
My guns stay on the hush silence a crush
Didn't know I had much clout mafia
Ain't no stoppin' tha rhyme tractor factor
To the war machine glitter and gleam seems
Like hate loves to follow loves legacy
But it guided me to show me my enemies
Quick to shake ya hands grinds over the face
Misplaced ya pace I see ya disgraced
Smack these fools with a tax lien Like Mase
Chilling with my women in a golden drapes
They keep me a secret like Xscape *** tapes
Got em saying baby baby baby I can't wait

(The ****** that's whats happening)

Put on the Dramatics and lt us hear In The Rain.
Adapting into the message of Wee Gee Howard demanding voice.
Later put on some Somey and let him soothe us into the mood.

But if his romancing fails the path?
Then let Marvin Gaye directly lead us that way.

Put on some Delfonics and let For The Love I gave You take over the moment.
Or Ohio Players song FIRE heat up the room.
Even Earth, Wind, and Fire song Devotion can accomplish this.

These songs hit with those romantic feelings.
Get you in the mood, get you in tune.

Put on some Four Top explainings Ain't No Woman Like The One I Got.
But every man in love should know this.
If you know like the Stylistics sung Stone In Love With You.
Or play the Miracles version of What Love Had Joined Together.

Especially, if sincere in that forever love for one another.
Impress the youth with old school jams and let them adapt to lyrical truth.

Break out David Ruffin-Just Let Hold You For One Night and watch the moment stay just right.

We can surely play the Temptations-Just My Imagination except anything running away will be the joy we exploring with one another.

Whew-some music create moods right there at the kitchen tables
jeffrey conyers Feb 2020
Never ever.
Will I not love and adore you.
Yes, never ever.

You're the breath within me.
You're the life within me.
Like that song states, you're the wind beneath my wings.

Never ever.
Will I not protect you.
That's exactly what any good man should do?

You the force of my dreams.
The hope within my prayers.
Like the Stylistics song, you are everything.

And I could never ever love another.
After loving you.
Beautifully sung by the great vocalist David Ruffin.

Place me in the land of never with you.
And I feel like I went straight to heaven.

— The End —
