The bent old man limped
out upon the wooden pier.
The day was bright and clear,
he had fished there for over
72 years, a high mountain
lake he revered as both boy
and man. Now at 82 every
step he takes hurts. Even in
sleep at night his pain persists.

The sparkling clear calm water was
like looking down into a mirror.
To his own reflection staring back
up at him, he softly uttered,
“I used to be someone,
but not anymore.”

No one was around to see him go,
or hear the splash that took him low,
deep under to his own desired ending.
Time and age humbles all.
To be clear, he did not stumble
and fall, he dove head first.

To any concerned friends
that read this, this is not a
pre-ending of life note,
merely the musings of
feelings and thoughts
that aging people have.
As for me, I am just fine
having no need of a lake
swim.
We were gifted sleep so we could only
have visions of madness
And bestowed eyes that would only
cry tears of sadness
We were granted arms so we could only
fend against the violence
And blessed with ears that would only
hear ignores and silence

We were gifted hands so we could only
hold the weight of the earth
And bestowed minds that would only
think less of our worth
We were granted feet so we could only
run away from the dangers
And blessed with hearts that would only
confide in the strangers

We were gifted lives so we could only
plea for our own deaths
And bestowed lungs that would only
breathe meaningless breaths
We were granted mouths so we could only
converse in our screams
And blessed with bodies that would only
be alive in our dreams

each note is a touch
that vibrates the mind
strands of hair stands
a whisper to both ears
amidst the silence.

In a desert of scree

And she laid herself down on the sand of darkness
Slowly lacing each tiny grain into pearl
Loosen yet whole
Rare yet priceless
Precious and lustrous
Enchanting and valuable
Prayer
Reaches
It's estranged
Santurary today
