Its Fathers Day and everyone is celebrating
Fathers receiving pressies from their kin
Fathers being taken to lunch, menus that have them salivating
Fathers cards lovingly written and given

This year it has hit me hard noone to buy a present or card
The cards have been in stores for a few weeks
They call me to them and I start to seek
Then I remember my Dads no longer here
Noone to wish Happy Fathers day cheer

My Dad, was fun, loving and kind
My Dad was intelligent of mind
My Dad was sporting, table tennis, football and cricket
My Dad was this girls winning ticket
My Dad loved classics, music and books
My Dad had film star good looks
My Dad was my best friend and I loved him to the very end

So instead of a card or a pressie, this year
I will lift a glass of alcohol cheer
Raise my glass and thank the universe for my Dad
He was the best a girl ever had

Dads are a special gift to cherish all year
So raise your glasses and ring out the cheers
Happy Fathers Day to all Dads including those no longer here.
It has been 2 years but this year has been particularly hard, I keep seeing cards and presents in all the shops and then remember I don't have anyone to buy for, it's hard.

Oh what a scene
Cricket being played on a field of green
Eleven players per team all dressed in whites
What a fabulous, glorious sight
Bowlers bowl, Batsmen bat
Umpires keep the score, was he out, "howzat"
Bowlers aim not too high, not too low
Bowlers bowl not too fast and not too slow
Batsmen notching up the runs
Receiving the ball at full speed, hitting the ball to the boundary for a four
If their lucky they will hit it for six, over the boundary bar
A coin is tossed for who bats first, the losing team defending
Six ***** per over, 50 overs per inning
Who scores the most is the team that is winning
A few rules to abide
Keep your leg to the side, dont get caught leg before wicket
Bowlers of pace, try to keep the ball away from the batsmans face
If you are caught out before you score, a duck will appear on the scoreboard
A century is of course one hundred runs, simply known as a ton
Then comes a break for afternoon tea, sandwiches and cakes all freshly baked
The second team step up to the mark
For this typically English game in the park
Families attend from far and wide to watch the battles of the two cricket sides
Battling it out on a field of green, halcyon days continuing
Inspired by tonight's evening walk, field full of cricketers, Love cricket, it is so typically English, the only game I know that supplies an afternoon tea of cakes, quiche, sandwiches, teas and coffee for the players as well as spectators, brings back very happy memories.

Blue skies
Daily highs
Green fields
Keeping it real
Soft sand
Hand in hand
Yellow sun
Days just begun
Rainy days
Foggy haze
Orange sun
Skies ablaze
Softly lapping seas
At your feet they tease
Large crashing waves
Wiping you off your feet, quick save
Rock pools on the shore
Children climbing to explore
Sandcastles on the beach
Waves just out of reach
Yellow flowers
Pollen power
Temperature 28 degrees
Some people with hayfever, attempting not to sneeze
Kites flying in the sky
Children laughing nearby
Picnics spread upon the ground
Variety of flavours abound
Swans swimming in the lake
Cygnets fighting for breadcrumbs to take
Dogs running in the park
Owners chasing them, not to bark
Cricket playing in the field
"Not out, surely" "umpire what do you feel"?
Sitting out on the decking
Last of the suns rays savouring
Bright Full Moon
The end of the day has come too soon

One day a young girl of just twenty two
Followed her father, the cobbler, into designing and making shoes

Making shoes that were very grand
She gave them her name as their brand

She made red shoes, blue shoes, green shoes and brown
She made them encrusted with diamonds in the shape of a crown

She made high heels, low heels, wedges and kitten
They were terribly delightful and everyone was smitten

One day as she was closing up for the day
The Prince from the next kingdom, popped in to say

Dearest Petula please could you wait
My wife is pregnant and requires a low heel, if it's not too late

I'll pay you good money and speak of you well
If you could just choose a low heel for my wife, to sell

I'll do better than that Petula replied
If you just tell me your wife's size and if she requires wide

The Prince was so excited size 4 wide he shouted
Petula chose a fine tan leather and set it mounted

She began to shave the leather, treating it with care
And in no time at all she had shaped a fabulous pair

She fancied the shoes with diamonds and feathers
Complimenting the colour and shape of the leather

The Prince was so very impressed and delighted
He ran from the shop so excited

He fetched his dear wife and gave her the pair
She was equally pleased, said it was like walking on air

The Prince summoned Petula to the castle for tea
And duly declared by Royal Decree
Petula shoes would carry the Royal Seal
And asked dear Petula how that made her feel

The Royal Seal means quality ware
People now come from far and wide, to have Petula make their shoes with such love and care

Petulas dad retired to his chair
Leaving Petula to run the shop, he considered it to be fair

The Prince became a dad and Petula supplies the shoes for his little lad

Ten years have passed and still Petula works on her designs for shoes and now other attire
She will.lovingly craft her merchandise until the day she retires

The ancient village settles below
The mountains they surround
And high up on the hilltop they are guarded by a cross with Jesus Christ tied by hands and feet bound

We climbed to the very top
Rock after rock we did not stop

First La croix, to admire the view
The village below, pale walls, shutters of blue

Next we walked and climbed, carefully taking our time
A Fort sits on the top, crafted by the Saxons
Men of strong build and hair of flaxen
450 metres above ground, so quiet not a sound
The remains a joy to see, just my loved one and me

The village is of Moorish beginnings
Has ancient street names, restaurants and bars
You can drive through with your car
But take the hike to the top and you will be winning
The view the reward, on a clear day you can see to the Alps
Your heart will thank you with little palps
Your body will thank you feeling sprightly
Your mind will thank you feeling rightly

A day of energy and fun, a day spent in the warming sun

A day to remember another day when winter is here, a day to remember and to bring you much cheer
Spent the morning climbing a mountain, so worth the view, it was mild when we started raging heat by the time we had got back but so enjoyed it

There was a youn lady called Pru
Who declared she had nothing to do

So she set about putting it right
And got into a bit of a fight

You see she wanted to make it clear
That she had nothing to hide and nothing to fear

She was incredibly rude and loud
What she said hung in the air like a heavy cloud

She wanted to set up a stall, selling buttons to one and all
She seemed to have found her call

But she said to a woman who purchased six small ducks
That the woman was bang out of luck

For small was not her size
From her hips to her big blue eyes

She continued with her speech
That made it clear, small was out of the woman's  reach

The woman began to cry
Pru began to sigh

People began to gather
Everyone got in a bit of a lather

A gentleman happened by
And asked Pru why?

Why did she feel the need, to put the woman down?
Pru began to consider and began to frown

That was not her intention, she was misunderstood
She had just meant that small was no good for the woman's hood

Pru and the woman shook hands
The council provided a band

Someone brought scones and jam for afternoon tea
And everyone sat down to eat at about half past three

Now Pru and the woman are friends
And this short story is soon to end

But first I just wanted to say
Thanks for reading, have a good day
Trouble sleeping
