It's all behind me now.  The
days of wine and roses, and you.
I was young in the tender
of my years.

You were curled and red, the
tight nights of summer dimmed
my eyes.  The breezes
of June were wrapped embraces.

In these, my last years here, I dwell
on summer.  No matter the cold of
Wisconsin, it's the brilliance of
then that I rub on my face like
fine oil.  I remember the incense.
The musk of your scent
lingers.

We were a tune that played for
the span of one summer.  It
is as strong in my memory as ever
were your hands on my face.

Once when I loved you,
almost fifty summers ago, I
promised I wouldn't hurt you.
But you left me to
broken poems.

I am wooden in my age
and I dance with hard
shoes.  The days are
long and the nights
no longer sing.

I left what mark I could.
A tree in the meadow has
our hearts carved on it.
We cut us and shared blood.
That was a century way back.
Now we're dust and forgotten.
Maybe we're stars in the night
still terribly in desperate love.
I still remember that time
I picture it so clearly
I still remember our song
When I was your one and only

I still remember how it felt
I held you so firmly
I still remember our letters
When you loved me so dearly
Why does it still hurt?
I slept with the moon smiling at me
    I dreamed of you.
But not all dreams come true,
    Because sometimes,
          We die in our dreams.
I wonder if the moon still smiles or it grieves the loss.
They meant the world to me
But
You stole them from me
Are you the light
When the darkness bites

Do you shine
When the wound bleeds bad

Will you stand
When the weak
Fall to their knees in tears

Could you carry the wounded
To the safety begged

For

You are the light
God's candle
A spark
To the fireside
Where it's warm

And comfort
Is just an arm away
In hugs

For no dark
Can take away love

Are you a soldier for Gods
Or yours

Are you a light
Or just a bright spot

Where do you get your power from
And I'll tell you why it's dim

Are you the Light
Within the Truth
Where the Way
Resides

If not
You better turn in on!

Before you get left
             In the dark
                  Tonight
What is perfection
Living up to others expectations
Living the dreamers dream
Navigating the roads
Invisible streams
Following your heart
Or the fallacious

Bridging and balancing

Believing in self
Living and loving
Kindness and compassion
In words and deeds
Is humanity supreme
In my perception
Is perfection indeed
