I was born on November 30th , I hear that makes me a Saggitarius.
I dunno what that means.
I  know how to swim, and I'm a sucker for a guy with a nice smile
And nice words.

I'm still learning how to whisper sweet nothings
I'm often loud at times when I should be quiet
I'm often quiet at times when I should be loud
I keep holding back or letting it all out at the wrong time.

I like sweet drinks... a lot.
I've been told that I give pretty bad hugs
People say that it feels like I'm trying to escape
Well I don't like letting people close.
Especially close enough to hear me breathe.

I have this odd fascination with things like time machines and technology,
I assume it's because I like to figure out how things work and fix them.
Am the same way with people, like to know what's coming before it does.
Love usually lasts a few moments,
That's also why I tend to fall in love with men
Who would never love me back
I know it sounds crazy, but it's actually much saner than it seems
And to be honest, I think it's safer that way
See relationships, they often remind me that I'm not afraid of letting go.
But I'm scared of what's gonna happen
The moment that my body hits the ground
I'm clumsy. I usually trip when am following my feelings.
I landed on my pride and it shattered like a mirror i check daily.
Now I can't even tell who's trying to give me a compliment
or just trying to get into my pants.

I've never been into martial arts but I have all these bruises,
I got from beating myself up over things I can't fix
I know it sounds weird but sometimes,
I wonder what the voices in my head say when am asleep.
I wonder what the doors would do if they found out
About all the things that I've done when they are closed.
I've got a trash can that's overflowing with really, really obnoxious mistakes
And a dump site in my closet with all the skeletons.
You'll trap me in a corner and insist I get help.

Hi, my name is Em,
I enjoy ice cream and yoghurt, people watching
And figuring out how to make them work.
I allow myself to cry more than I need to,
from letting all the wrong people in.
I have solar-powered energy, I have a battery-operated heart,
It flickers and dies from overuse.
My hobbies include rewriting my life story, hiding behind poems,
And trying to convince myself that I do matter to someone.
I don't know much, but I do know this
I know that if you don't have standards,
you won't be treated right and be happy.
I know God is still reworking my faults and flaws,
I'm a unique work in progress.

Write on the bathroom wall this:

Diligence is probably slaying rebellion

Dreaming comes out of an atomic bomb

Your girlfriends in a gang that’s lead by prostitutes

Cavemen getting punched in the face by men

Werewolves developing a crush on skinheads

Soldiers experimenting with martyrs

Your nextdoor neighbor pretending not to know a *****

A gypsy writing love letters to a villain

A guy you once dated driving away from a distant memory

Your mother at a funeral with an executioner

Mind control freak making eye-contact in an elevator with a flight of birds

Gleefully bulldozing gigantic flaming embalmers underground

Ferociously inspiring detail-oriented museums in the dark

Painfully sorting through stainless steel students backwards

Electronically sorting monophonic apparitions in the shadows

Faithfully inhaling Armenian scorpions at tea time

Briskly hovering above loud controlled substances eaten by America and spat out

Dream about this next time you sleep:

Quizzically exquisite keyholes inside a sunken ship

Wearily alcoholic skeletons invading our love

Sharing sternly precious lithographs with Charles Manson

Adoringly high-pitched frescos out on the streets

Wildly crunchy affairs with reckless abandoned hope

Her boyish handymen is like Mona Lisa without her brows

Sensually cuddling big pistols

The AntiChrist finds the cure for cancer in the local pet shop

Mary Magdalene can sometimes lead to your soul’s desire

*** can (and often does) lead to motherhood

Absolutism has never touched cooperation

The Tao Te Ching manifested properly may ease the destructiveness of Christ

******* is hindered by believing in motherhood

Nature encourages rebirth and recycled courage

Ashtanga Yoga is more important than victory

An inspired mind isn’t always The Bible

Energy must always conquer evolution

*** is a decent alternative to nightmares wouldn’t you agree?

Electricity is a manifestation of mercy and Tesla

Pleasure feeds on Gandhi’s sweat ridden bald head

Candidly breaking dormitories brimming with joy

Barely used unstable translators outside the lines

Enjoying calm lavish casino hotels with the electric eager manicurists of tomorrow

A janitor burying a troop of apes while nature contributes to death and new yesterday’s

The unknowable comes out of knowledge

A ***** mind finds the cure for ignorance in patience and the aloha spirit

Education contains traces of drugs and alcohol and also combats drugs and alcohol

Satan always enjoys Richard Dawkins.
The lock on the closet rattles
The cries from within get louder as
I try to close my eyes
Sleep never comes easy because then
I must slip from this disguise
My smile fades, and positivity drains
Relentless to my sighs, the past prevails
Cracking concrete walls and rebuilding burnt ties
Moments seem like hours as the memories pour in
It will be morning before I find control again
Skeletons persist to be released
From these walls I have built around them
Never remember the past as it is
Forget and move on I swore,
But when the lights go out and the stars color the sky
I am safe from them no more

We rushed on glorious wings
that fed bombs into Baghdad soil
with feverous lust for a hollow dream.
Now nine long years later,
seventeen bodies lie on earth where oil
engenders a lust that’s even greater.

Seventeen skeletons innocent;
Seventeen bloodlines’ descent.
Karzai’s blank solace and Kandahar’s dead
seventeen lay heavier on the heart than lead.

Three tours were far too many,
the fourth far more than he could take.
A sergeant who’d have given any-
thing for his wife and kids’ sake.
Seeing a good friend’s severe injury –
the last blow Sanity could handle.
Morality goes out – light from a candle
swaddled in smoke’s endless perjury.

Seventeen seconds of forethought
may perhaps have faltered his shot;
Seventeen centuries of ponder
and still the heart may have not grown fonder.
Seventeen lovers left alone,
or loves that’ll never come to pass,
seventeen graves of heavy bones
mark where a madman’s mind broke at last.

Seventeen skeletons innocent;
Seventeen bloodlines’ descent.
Karzai’s blank solace and Kandahar’s dead
seventeen lay heavier on the heart than lead.

I'm a soldier in the nightlight revolution
I'm fighting the nightmares that haunt your dreams
The monsters in your closet
And the Boogeyman under your bed
One outlet at a time
I'm a silent alarm that vibrates your covers
When older brothers come in after bed time
To cover your face in shaving cream
Dip your hands in popcorn bowls of warm water
Or just slap you in the face
Sometimes they're not that subtle
I know when there is a tooth under your bed
Or reindeer on your roof
I've got a motion detector to keep step fathers at bay
While your mother's asleep
I'm his grave digger and his crypt keeper
Taking his skeletons out of the closet
And laying them in the middle of the floor
That man won't call on you anymore
I'm a hug when all you need is a handshake
And a hold-you-all-night when all you need is a kiss on the cheek
I don't do half-***
When things go bump in the night I bump back
Never fear to close both eyes when you sleep
Dream of fairy tales, Prince Charming
Dream of Maid Marions
Waiting for your touch
Don't fear the reaper he fears me
I am a soldier in the nightlight revolution
Armed with so much more than illumination
I crawl through the cracks in the closet door
Make their shadows cast pictures of rainbows on your wall
The Boogey Man runs from Chuck Norris
Chuck Norris runs from me
Please rest easy
Let the night take you for all it has to offer
Through star lit skies and rain filled clouds on magic carpets rides
Ocean floors and clown fish in little yellow submarines
Rain forests with koalas and parrots and panda bears
Son never fear for what the night brings near
The nightlight revolution is here
Throw your dream catcher away I will hand craft each one
Take the lavender out of the window sill
Don't leave the door cracked
You've got me
I'm here
We're all here
Soldiers of the nightlight revolution
And we will not sleep til you're awake
