Looking at life
From both sides shows
The dark and light
As energy flows
In waves of sadness
Emotional
Imminent gladness
In tides that glow
A smile can be
A frown you
Know

Loving this life
Is easy to do
Feeling the pain
Effortless too
And somehow
Recognizing truth
Gives us permission
To be confused

To savor the rain
To love the sun
To feel in ways
That we have won
Without the days
Of feeling down
Feeling loved and
Feeling great
Is such a
Flip-flopped
Mental
State

With every step
We risk to take
Our spirit's find
Ourselves awake
We feel deceived
We feel alive
We feel defeated
Buried, defied
Our disappointments
Still reside
Keeping us
From joy
Hiding
The
Light
Extinguishing
What
Shines
Inside

Deep within
Our bodies lie
Our greatest guide
Our greatest stride
Resonating
In our spines
Answers to questions
God will find
If just to ask
In prayer
Of mind

Without the darkness
We are not light
Without the dimming
We are not bright
Without the anger
Where is delight?

Looking at life
From both sides shows
The dark and light
As energy flows
In waves of sadness
Emotional
Imminent gladness
In tides that glow
A smile can be
A frown you
Know

No matter how much
Disbelief
Sorrow, blues,
Heartache or grief
To feel the way
In which we do
Can be another
Tear or two
Closer still
To our relief
Finding our way
Towards inner peace
Good fortune, comfort,
Hopefulness
Is gained
With every
Pang
And
Bliss

The eclipse of our
Doubt sustains
Our certainty
Where love
Remains

Always
