i don't know why
i find it so difficult
to believe people
when they compliment me.
whether it's a
"you're adorable"
or a "you're so smart"
or even a "you're amazing, you know that?"
the voices in my head
just drown all that out
and remind me
how much i hate myself.
so i just look at them,
brush their words off,
and shake my head.
