I do not understand...

In school,
When we were young,
We learned to respect others,
and treat everybody as an equal

But those who taught us
To not be disrespectful
are the ones who choose favorite students

In the classroom,
by the teachers,
maybe some of us are not equal

...they are the hypocrites...
I know what it is like to not be treated as an equal person.
I do not understand why teachers (for lack of a better word) "preach" about equality, but they can not simply "practice what they preach" in the classroom.
