Portrait of A Fake
Light a beacon
And shine it on the path
That I am supposed to take.
I'm trying to gather my bearings,
But it feels like
I'm already too lost.
I've been wearing a mask
Cuz a smile is not all it takes;
This image is a portrait of a fake.
I'm too exhausted to run.
I've gotten as far as I can toss.
Hopefully up to now
It was worth the cost.
