“I almost hate
Letting people
Into my life
Because they always leave”
The senior Lama
Thought to himself
As he eats
Every day
Shunned by his mother
For slaying his father
And feeling awkward
Most of his life
As a grown man
Until a young woman
Came into his monastery
His life
And heart
When she told what happened
To her
He felt more than compassion
But more love
That was the
Night he
And the young woman
Fell in love
Knowing that she was broken
Too
He knew she wouldn’t leave him.
