my heart is loose
I can feel it
rattle
against my ribs

having nothing
to cling to

now
that you're gone

it drifts
aimlessly

like a tumbleweed
along
the desert's sandy floor

lightweight
empty
brittle

not completely
broken

but
a slight breeze
is
all it needs

to crack
and
fall apart

so

I hold my breath
