Go easy on my weary eyes
It's all I'll ask of you
And while you're at it,
Stay for a while
Because I sure could use some  company!
And with every breath comes a sharp pain
And I don't pretend I don't feel it
I wince and whimper, loud as can be
About my own personal hell
The skies, once milky blue, have turned solid grey
The temperature drops oh so low
But not nearly as low as my spirit
I could run and run as fast as my legs would take me
But that wouldn't be very far
Honestly, if anything,
I think it would be like running on a treadmill
On the lowest setting.
And I used to spend my nights looking at the stars
But the clouds have taken over
And I've accepted this
So I spend my time counting the cars
That drive down my solemn path
I think I'm at six right now
Which is an all-time high!
And I'm not sure of the future
And the past is weary

The present seems a bit lonesome, my friend
And I sure could use some company.
