Oh you know how life can start out rough
but it doesn't make the mark of a man
It's how he pushes through when everything gets tough
and in the end he knows who he is

I met a man about a quarter century ago
who showed me the best example of this
his voice was made of thunder exciting my nerves and bone
learning how he knew how to live

Until they call you home
you don't have to know
but when they call you home
you've got to say "I'm just me"
when they call you home
you have to know
because I know
yes I know

He showed how a man can learn to make progress
As soon he can understand
Life is not always about the common sense
Timing is part of God's plan

There isn't much that you can do about it
and nothing fast enough to try to stop it
my lesson learned in life is that this is not the end
So I'll see you on the other side my friend

Until they call you home
you won't have to know
and when they call you home
you have to say "I am free"
and when they call you home
you have to know
because I know
yes I know

That you're finally free
