More often than not, we tend to take things and people around us for granted.

We vent our anger at our loved ones after a long day.
Snapping at our boyfriends/ girlfriends as though they were the cause of it,
hurting them.
And when things don't go as planned, or fail to meet our expectations,
we immediately play the blame game,
putting the blame on them, then deeming it as a case in which they do not care about us.
But little do we know,
they tried their best and do truly love you with every once of their being.

We ignore our friends, the ones closest to us, even the ones that we tell our deepest, darkest secrets to, the ones that know our dirtiest habits.
All because,
you got scolded by a teacher for not handing in an assignment, so it seemed like school wasn't going so well.
But little do you know,
your lack of words has been worrying them the whole day,
and they aren't sure whether you still would like them around.

We cause an uproar under our own roof.
Breaking out into a heated argument with our parents,
because they wouldn't shut up about how you should go do your homework, how you should have your dinner because it is late, and how you should go take a bath since it's already midnight.
But little do you know,
the words that you said have left them thinking what they have done wrong for the rest of the night, because to them they were only concerned about you.
It is not just mums who cry,
dads cry too.

Let us not appreciate with absence.
To the ones that never gave up on us: Thank you.
nothing is permanent in life, definitely not the people.
