The baby's fair skin glowed under hospital lights,
And my eyes welled with tears; try as I might,
To refrain from being overwhelmed with joy,
It became impossible when my baby was deployed.

Everything we worked through,
My lover and I have survived,
Existed to bring a beautiful being into the world,
Whom we eagerly contrived.

It was worth it, my love, to remain strong.
Look at this beautiful child we've made,
Despite everything in our lives that went wrong.
We have a son now, so we cannot fade.

We're here, we're together,
We're family now.
Life has finally worked itself out
Somehow.
