the two of us sit silently
she sits motionless in front of her iPad
we arrived to class early
I sit motionless and sad

who do you love?
what is your passion?
do you know God above?
what is your satisfaction?

her hair flows down her shoulder
like mist upon hills
her eyes fixed upon the lights before her
like one would take their daily pills.

more people come in one by one
but she remains there
like the morning sun
and the two of us sit here
silently taking our pills
