I sat down to a puzzle
When my dog came for a nuzzle
And I gave a small scratch behind the ears
I moved on to the telly
And he lay down on my belly
And we both fell fast asleep after two beers

It seems while I was dreaming
That I heard somebody screaming
It was just an advert on tv
The dog got down real quickly
I thought he might be sickly
It turns out that he only had to ***

I went back to watch footy
And then some "sweep and sooty"
Then the wife came in and asked me where's the dog
I said he's out the back dear
All is fine, no need to fret dear
"Then why is he there chewing on a frog?"

I said I knew no reason
I didn't know frogs were in season
And I went outside to go wash out his mouth
He didn't like the feeling
In fact he was reaching for the ceiling
And that is just the time that things went south

He chose right then to *****
It came up just like a comet
The beer, a bone, and two thirds of a frog
I knew that he felt better
My dumb old Irish setter
This is just a day of living with a dog

i must stop falling in love
with boys who write poems.
they love a love that's lost
they love a love that is misery
they love the cuts on my arms.
they only want
a sad-eyed muse
and i cannot be sad
all the time
You toss a coin
or turn a card
anyway you throw the dice
you know that life is hard
so you want to take it easy in some nice bijou apartment
but you know that 'heaven sent'
is just a figment of imagination.
Creation's just a spirograph
it makes you cry
it makes you laugh
and in the end
someone will send an 'etch a sketch' to wipe you clean.

So fetch your dream ******* in bows
tie it to the arrows of the discontent
let them fly off to our parliament
and then forget,
that we were once the future that was told
but now we're old
we are expendable.

if i paid attention in english class
i’d probably be smart
but if i was smart
i’d probably be boring
either that or super weird
like the crazy shoe-lace sweaters
our professor wears.
You live within me.
You dance through my veins.
You fill my lungs with sighs;
you give me pristine air to breathe.

You flirt with me,
you salute me
and hail me
by the fierce moonlight.
You call me a princess,
you laugh with me
and touch my hand
over yon old wooden bench.
You read me poems,
you smile at delight
and cry at every gloom.
With a craze so sweet
You wipe out my tears
and send blushes
all over my cheeks.
You know my story,
you are amazed
at the shapes I tell of
and the mean princes
I write of.
You are my morn
and night poetry,
you are the tale
that makes me forget
and the only song
that makes me forgive.

You shower me with love,
you soak my bones
and give my heart its beat.
You warm me up
behind the cold walls,
you hug my spirit
as the wicked storm falls.

You were born within me,
you grew and aged inside me.
You glorify and empower me,
you lift me up and cherish me.
You console me when I am sad,
you sing for me when all goes mad.
You feel guilty when I am wrong,
you feed my flesh and make it strong.

You please my soul,
you cure my pain with joy.
You are the charms,
that strangle and capture me.
You are the birth
of my every mirth!
You are the triumph
that I strive for,
You are the light
that shields my mind,
the nearby sun
that feeds my love.

When the night casts its
shadow
over the sea it's as though it
s k i p s
a beat
The reflection of the moon
                            sinking~
deep into the current,
wraps itself silently over your cold skin
as you fold your arms into your chest
& kick up rain from darkness.
I can see all of the
g o O s E b U m P s
spreading beneath your pale thighs
& a soft grey light seeping
through your shy eyes.

It scares me and comforts me that I cannot
imagine a song or story book that
knows me better than your lips.
Last night I listened to
Amy Hit the Atmosphere
on loop for three hours & didn't wake with
random-
                          red-
                                                gashes//
all over my left forearm.
I can dream of Heathcliff & Catherine
out on the moors without
flooding my cheek bones with salt water

but now we're happily
flooding every crease in our palms
& every bend in our legs
with salt water.

I know come sunset the nature that
cradles us calmly now will wake
w ild ly
and usher us back to shore where
I will lose you to a blinding sun
but for now I need to feel the curve of your ankle
summoning mine.

If we exist as strongly as we can in this moment, the future shouldn't scare us because if we exist at all in this moment, the past didn't break us.

**I'm alive tonight &
I'll float in and out of you as I choose to.
Some boys with cheek play hide and seek within a house condemned
their faces gaunt reflecting want that’s hard to comprehend.

With veiled excuse an old recluse is waiting to descend.
His eye despairs above the stairs, he’s never had a friend
to talk about his hidden doubt of how his world will end -
to die unknown, forlorn, alone? No use a farewell penned!

And soon the boys chase phantom joys then, presto when they’ve gone,
the old recluse, with nimble noose and ****** features wan,
no longer waits upon the Fates but yawns his final yawn
(like Tinker Bell, he spins a spell, though fairy dust's withdrawn).

With twisted brow, he’s tranquil now, he’s floating like a swan
and as he fades from life’s charades, the night awaits the dawn.
