Let me paint a picture
With your body the canvas my tongue the brush
It will be a masterpiece
On these I'll never rush

Picasso or Rembrandt
will have nothing on me
Cause when we get together
I'll paint a tapestry

I'll sculpt a love out of clay
Made with hands of desire
And when it's done into the kiln it'll go
Stoked with passions fire

A poem I will write
As deep as oceans blue
It will be a tale of love
one about me and you

I would conduct a symphony
Music to your ears
I'll always be here to protect you
From your darkest fears

And when the angels come to take me home
When my time is through
I'll be the artist up in heaven
Painting in nothing but blue
Afternoon octaves from a Raspberry arbor ,
streaming with Honeybee delight , fledgeling
Cardinals hopping from branch to branch ,
Rubies pause then pose , streak away in zig-zag
flight
Bluejays crack acorns on cobblestone drives ,
Red wasp , Swallowtails and Cuckoo bees dance
in warm light , Cinnamon coated fawns dance
the forever fields of soybeans , Sugar Magnolias
stand tall in Purple clover dreams

For tears that fall
On hollow cheeks
When the weeks feel like years
And the years feel like weeks.

And you sit by a grave
Where the roses grow
But the rose that you seek
Is buried below.

You have my heart
Heavy with sorrow
For the velvet rose
With no tomorrow.
Absolutely over the moon (if a little shocked) to see that this piece made the daily.  Thank you all so much for your comments - I promise to reply to you all individually at some point soon.  It was an extremely emotional, difficult, but ultimately cathartic write. Dedicated to our wee Shane, who we will never forget ***
today i want the darkness
fatigued with life’s
fictitious smiles

the forest
beckons me
to melt within it

disappearing
like mist
in the wind

i could dance on lightning
fall off a cloud
and become rain

i’d mold down your face
as i fall on it
and be one with you
