I tossed a coin into the deepest well
Did my wish hit bottom, it's hard to tell
I've tried it all not sure what else
I can do to have you to myself

I've had nightly readings of the tea leaves
Hung hundreds of dream catchers from dozens of trees
Even wore my share of Mojo beads
What else do I need

I have snapped my fingers and kept them crossed
Stepped into the ally where the dice was tossed
Conjured swirling smoke from a Crystal ball
Wished upon the stars as I watched them fall

I have tried all of these and many more
Knocked on the wood of a oaken door
If you my dear are keeping score
It is you I've done all this for

Temptation shies
From revealing sun,
Its subtleties
Shine on everyone.
Don't look for horns,
Fork and tail;
Its method ensnares
The unsuspecting,
Should they dare
Challenge to outwit.

We'll trade our souls,
For a sack;
Barter what we dearly hold;
Trade it in
For selfish goals.

Some advertise
A soul for sale
By self-service.
That ultimately fails.
Cuckold a friend,
Cheat at the end;
The tempter likes it
When we're lost
In the simplicity
Of detail.

So sly
We think
We lose our souls.
Terrified by
Eternal flames
That burn without
Consuming skin.
We don't
Lose that,
We wallow
In our sins.

This temptation needs
To stick us
In the end.
These stars are viewed
Better underneath them with you
The song the crickets sing
Reminds me of the sting
And how alone I really am
Wishing you were here

I know you're sleeping
And I know you need the rest
But I can't feel lonely
When your head is on my chest

And I listen to you breathe
Deeply with closed eyes
And I wrap my arms around you
Reassuring that you're mine

But for now I'm by myself
Writing nocturnal diaries about you again
I'll see you in the morning,
So this night is at an end

I'm made of all;
The books I've ever read
Poems I've ever written
Faces who have smiled at me
Hugs that have wrapped around me
Caresses that have graced my inner thigh
Countries & continents my feet have touched
The lovers as we simultaneously reach ecstasy within
Lonely nights shedding tear drops
Nights gazing black skies moon & stars
Children falling asleep to my heartbeat
Animals whose soul was found through reflective eye stares
Conversations spoken in French, Spanish, Italian, Xhosa, Afrikaans, Norwegian, German
Years of ******-, cognitive-, dialectical-, art-, drama-, music-, mindfulness-, trauma-, psychiatry-; therapies
The drinks & drugs & mind altering substances dispersing my mind
In all I'm made of;
Love
Lust
Greed
Fear
Joy
Freedom
Longing
Dreams
Despair
Sadness
Anger
Frustrations
Happiness
Anxieties
Insecurities....

In all I'm made of;

A soul; securely contained within a body of battled scars;
over;
pain & triumphs, losses & gains, rejections & acceptances, dishonours & accolades...

With the hope; she too, can live life through.

Nights like these
Sodden summer air
When the cicadas hum
And fireflies float
Flash photography
In the breezeless sky
Is when I best remember
Our July
In the rain
When the sun has just kissed
The horizon
And all goes still
Then comes to life
That first summer
Was honeysuckle on our tongues
Sweet for a moment
Then gone
But the flavor
Lingers
And you never forget
Your first taste
Memories
They are hard to grasp
To keep a hold of
Evaporating
Like rain on pavement
Dissipating into
A Midsummer Nights Dream

Thank the
Gods I am still
Learning to
Write

An end to this
Humbleness would
End
Me

I have never
Been better
Than any-
One

Except the proud
Stubborn
Un-
Poet
///

You wrote in a book
That I will again stand up
After my death,
Where there will no sigh to fly on the autumn air

And you told me
That she will smile again
Where there will be a captivated full moon that will play with her rectangular eyes

And there will be played a long summer
That should be risen again in a mystical sweeten,
As the kissed when my love was just only sixteen

Again you said to me
After death, her beauty will never die
Where there will be a lovely haven on her lips
And her simple kiss that I will be missed through a thousand of years long
