silent reflection
rocking upon a moon crescent
sway in pools below
quiet by the slacking tide
right before the rooster crows

The things I love in life are taking shape in front of my eyes. And the people I love are loving me back.

Floated in pools of honeyed-colored light
Autumn leaves caught the morning bright
Thus bringing summer's end with each new night.

Summer's foliage had built a garden so full of green delight
And played upon cheeks quite fair and eyes of childish spite;
While winter becomes a garment wrapped
   around our throats too tight.
This small life
unadorned
by fame
or money
or even
friends
still longs

Smaller
than intended
alone
with words
abundant

To describe what
whilst nothing
becomes anything
like something
that doesn't ring
or sing

On this side
I emit nothing
fibers of wannabe
criss-crossing sight
so many
they mat up
A loon communes on the lake,
the lake is a tear drop on Mother Earth,
the ripples flow like glass being blown,
I am perched on my porch.
The loon cries once more,
I puff on my cigar,
the smoke shifts indecisively,
it moves much like the unchained around me,
free willed and wild.
I dream of being unchained.
My branches stretch out,
they yearn for the sun,
but heavy grey clouds hang on puppet strings.
Overcast and encumbered by responsibility,
they shroud the sun,
blanket it with regret and doubt.
I dream of being unchained.
I lower my branches and shout,
but no one hears,
my voice is chained.
The loon cries out,
it echoes unrestrained.

Would I like to be studied?
Yes, I believe I would
Once I was a teacher
Did I do some good?

Silent in libraries
Students turning pages
Plato's conversations
Slowly fly the ages

Emily alone
Mr. Markson too
Bangkok Thomas Merton
In the temple I did view

A silent sitting monk
Women on either side
Tai chi in white robes
The sacred surely hides
