just because you're a pro and
cope and turn it all around
doesn't make it less difficult,
definitely not any less lonely

when the sun plays hide and seek
solar panels are less appealing
when this moonlit night's cloudy
night time jaunts seem less romantic

could they have been sarcastic
when they said all's fair in love
and winning war is fantastic
while keeping peace makes us starve

one day silent pens get justice; though
the voice that's heard is loudest
but each strain of a balladeer's refrain
are the words that make us honest*

wall upon wall upon wall,
exacerbating this ocean swell
of emptiness that's bursting inside.*

Once there was a tree with one leaf
The tree with one leaf has one flower
But it has two children on each side
Story not true

Three dinosaurs came out to play
I had to make some food for them
And one last thing I have to say
They were really very mucky today
The dinosaurs were toys

his tears used to wake him
from an unduly prolonged delay

her smiles used to hurt him for
their beauty his heart, dismay:

their love had locked them up
and threw away the only key

and mile upon mile of wishful thinking
pushed them further away, though free

he looked into a well-used mirror to find
the devil he danced with was himself

and the fireflies that once lit their canopy
have also lost their former glee
