Spill blood
like wine
over the bed-sheets.
This ceremony
leaves none
unexplored.

As soothsayers
we see dreams
and visions of
time past
and passing
in the entrails
and tea leaves.

What did we hope to find
in the fleshy hollows
where our sweetness
sits in wait
to rot?

Once found
is our fate made sound?
Solid.
A still life
in the waiting room
where we will break our bonds.

When the movement
stilled
and the dust kicked up
was hushed,
did we find ourselves there
under the blood stains
and honey,
or were we waiting
forever on the outside?

Always am I transparent
under a shifting moon.
My tired body
Doesn't need sleep
My tired body
Needs a warm embrace
My tired body
Needs a gentle kiss

Then maybe
I'll sleep

I am struggling to get the words out
They are starting to feel empty, and forced

Poetry shouldn’t be like that.

Poetry should be as natural as breathing
As flowing as air currents

It should pour out with power, with purpose
Unrefined, but beautiful
Not in spite of it, but because of it.

And that is getting difficult to do.
You never fail
To point out every single flaw
Never forget to remind me
Of everything I do wrong
I was stupid getting 60's,
Still stupid on honor roll
And you never cared about my ADHD
Always comparing me to someone else
I already know how worthless I am
I tell myself all the time
No, this isn't teenage angst
I've been sad for years
You've made me feel alone
And that's why I love him,
He told me the things you should have said
All along
I think this revelation is far overdue
The fault isn't in me,
The fault is in you
To my mother.

Emma
Him
God,
Why does he
Have this affect
On me?
Because one minute
I feel like
I can live
Without him
Like I'll be fine
But the next
When he talks to me
And shows that
Gorgeous smile
I feel like
All my walls
Come crashing
Down.

Becca
today i am grateful
for the losses and
hardships in my life
which have made me who
i am
and have brought me to where
i am now
with the people who are actually
good for me
Think I'm living
in a parallel universe

Nothing has changed
Everything's the same

Yet different

It's like I'm seeing
For the very
1st time
With eyes a new

Fresh sight
New ears

Strong
Confident

Am I now a butterfly
So light
And Free

Stretch out my wings
Am flying high now

Renaissance!
I think this poem speaks for how I feel

Mask

I am good at hiding,
good at hiding my truths,
good at hiding my secrets.
My mask is a smile,
it disguises my frown,
it hides my flaws.
Tears can't be seen behind a smiling mask.
Since the day I met you
I've failed to flow rationally.

You challenge my mind
(One of few, my dear),
Yet you play with my heart.

I don't know if you know this
yet
but I would happily turn our jokes
of love and marriage,
our hypothetical daydreams,
Into reality
-should society permit.

But I know these dreams:
my happy nights;
your morning messages,
they are just dreams.

And without you,
I must learn to flow
like I did before.
