a. Nocturne
Behold a heart full of stars,
a skyful of cyan grains
where we’ll watch motorcars
tracing the begonia plains.
Reflection of the pines so serene
in a pool daubed with turquoise and green.
An existence held by hands of elysian mould
paints the sundown with sapphires and gold.

On stygian seas,
the solemn moonlight smiles
as lighthouse turns
and tides caress the scattered isles.
Our dreams fill with saccharine desire
to cast melancholia into an astral fire.
Waves of warmth brush upon the gilded shore
of a pure euphoria we’ve wished to explore.

b. Island
The fires of your rainbowed tresses
endure the teeming tidal waves.
You’re dancing with starfish upon the seabed
and mingling in labyrinths from light overhead.

The mast is towering in summer air.
The sun is showering your seaward stare.

c. Nocturne
Our fantasies collide
upon a love laden tapestry
hung upon the universe
and doused in cerebral majesty.
Chameleon stalks in moonlit white
as the din of thunder quakes the night.
Old troubadour sings for the crumbling skies
and paints a floral temple within your lapis eyes.

d. Lullaby
Night’s dark halo o’er the city
showered with diamonds / veiled with gleams.
Sleepless labyrinth of gold lamplight
floods with ardor from empyrean dreams.
Night’s dark halo o’er luminous streams.

Laced in stillness, ghosts of the river,
a fog of nostalgia pours ‘cross the plain.
Silence wanders with cold shadows
trodding the orchard away from the rain.
Laced in stillness, our misty domain.

Song for slumber, a nebulous reverie
painting the valleys of our kindred minds.

e. Aubade I
Birdsong cradled on whispers of air
darkness engulfed with aurora.
Light pours across the emerald vale
and cascades upon sleeping flora.
Foxtails waver overlooking the shore,
blush skies fade to blue.
A caress of sea upon circle stones
as the sky dons a novel hue.

f. Aubade II
Dawn unveils dew swathed green /
sunlight parts the white-clad screen /
branches clutch foggy plumes
as river splits the forest womb.
We’re doused in rays of opaline,
a shawl of lavender rose,
and as our eyes fill with the morn,
we’ll paint our reams with loving prose.
a capturing of moments
Dylan McCarthy Jun 2020
Darkness writhes through islands of light
beneath a sky of flaming green.
Upon midnight’s chime, the sea fell still
reflecting lanterns of aquamarine.
Lily white moonchild of my dreams
hums her strain and dances in the streams.

Echoes glide through caverns of blue
beneath horizon’s comely thread.
She hovers ‘cross ripples of sun
as flickers grace the ocean bed.
Flowerboat lazing on ocher sand;
she sings of dawn amid her wonderland.

Zephyrs curl in the pine-shaded valley
beneath a dome of shattered clouds.
She lingers on the ribbon of rivers
waltzing in her lapis shrouds.
Twilight stretches o’er the levelled pool
knotted in the gleam of her summer jewel.

i. Dance of Winter White
Candle speaks molten wax cascading upon burning brass.
Flame beckons sideways like an ocean’s swaying tides.
To hold spectral ambiance
as black smoke subsides.

Candle weaves autumn scents wavering about tenements.
Tabletop lined with blank paper as solitary thoughts are marred
with essence, beauty,  a flock of words
as black wick is softly charred.

Candle breathes mellow light flickering for frigid flights
of winter white strewn upon pine shaded lawn.
Lamppost corona hides
as black trees greet the dawn.

ii. Dance of Paper Boats
He is wrought passages / of poems and prose
peering through my vine cloaked wall.
She is divine dreams / of songs and love
piercing through my candlelit hall.

Candle parallels lighthouse glow, a beacon for an isolated home.
Guiding paper boats from wreck, luring lost ideas ashore.
Heartbeat holds a harmonic key
yet weary minds hold no door.
time passes
Dylan McCarthy Jun 2020
Moonset slips beneath a steel sea,
crescent sailing the starless deep.
I sketch the hollowed sky in my dream.

Sunrise lifts from under the hills,
music stirs as dawnlight spills.

The horizon bursting,
a choir rehearsing:
requiem for a fallen friend.

Moonchild in the lap of a pine
singing for the wordless divine.
She wanders on the sea of her mind.

i. Hydrangea Pt. 1
Curtains of rain hang upon hills of indigo
as moonlight shatters the cloud drift
and decorates a river below.

Lapis and sapphire, orchid and mauve,
towering in midnight
where shadows solemnly rove.

Timeless waits her countenance
gazing to the sea.
A love locked in grace,
a wind cloaked tapestry.

ii. Marigold
Teal lace adorns her auburn flame
as hands brush through a stream.
Minnows dance beneath the mossweed shawl
as dawn ends another dream.

I’ll speak a million words of warmth
in winter's frigid hold.
I’ll paint fragments of the sky
and her sun of marigold.

Twilight falls over breaking waves
as Poseidon whispers a gale.
Forsaken within the dome of stars
she’ll guide my furling sail.

I’ll weave a million threads of stone
and cast the mountains aloft.
I’ll prophesy a million years
in her cradle silken soft.

iii. Larimar
Kol dodi echoes in the labyrinth
where I’ve lingered for all of time.
The dream, the presence, the illusion;
have me so delicately entwined.

Molten firmament of flaming larimar
hovers o’er the pool in rays of summer sun.
Still my silence calls.

iv. Hydrangea Pt. 2
Sculpting the afterglow in her hazel eyes.
So long I’ve yearned to witness the world rhapsodize.

Carpet of stars hang upon peaks of icy white
as specters trod the marina
singing couplets for the placid night.
